I just got an email from Georgetown telling me who my interviewer was and that I should set up an appointment with them this week. I honestly didn't know that they did interviews for transfers. Anyway, they set the interview back where I live, and not where I go to school. I just called/emailed them back and asked if they could set up an interview in my current schools area. Did anyone get this email as well?

Ya, they also gave the number to contact the alumni headquarters in your state. Call and explain your situation. They said you should get a response within a week.

i just got one as well… Is it optional for transfer students? GU’s website says it’s optional, but the email used the word “require”. What if I do not take the interview? Is it a really bad thing?? I am not confident at all to do it well. I even think I had better not to take it… What if I tell the officer that I cannot arrange time to meet with the alumni?? Anyone can help?

Still waiting on my e-mail. When did y’all submit your app? Anyone applying SFS CULP?

I emailed the alumnus who will be interviewing me and asked if she could meet with me before I go back to school. If she says she can’t then I will email the admissions office to assign me an alumnus in my school’s area.

I was also wondering if it was a requirement. I just dont want the pressures of an interview. I have been pushing back the date, but my interviewer wants to set something up for the next week or so. AHHH! and eyethink i applied to the college and did my app in early february.

Did anyone ask the officer whether it is optional or required? Can I refuse it if it is optional? Does it mean that I also turn down my whole application?? Oh…it’s annoying… None of the other schools I applied requires an interview for transfers!

Hey guys…Just do it!! I was so nervous but I did it anyway. It actually went very well. Either way it is experience :)

I asked the AAP chair whether it is optional or not. He said that the interview is optional and should be completed by April 15. If you do not have an interview it will not be held against you. But remember to let your interviewer know if you wish to have an interview or not.
Actually I am an international student. I hold no confidence in saying that the interview will improve my application. I may be too nervous to express myself well with fluent english. So how do you guys think? Should I take the interview any way? Or just tell the interviewer I am not able to meet him for my personal situation?

@anyone who’s done it, what was it like?

thabxborough: I did the same thing (I used my home address for my current location) but scheduled a phone interview instead. I’ve never done a phone interview before so hopefully it won’t be a problem.

eyethink: I applied SFS CULP too!

eyethink! Seriously?! I applied to SFS too! This is way too cool.

I didn’t apply for CULP though, I applied to Regional & Comparative Studies. :)

and along with the spirit of the thread as it is, yes I had an interview. It was really good. Take it as the potential to have a very pleasant conversation. I wont go into the details of what we talked about because each person is unique, and that will reflect in your interview. If anything, that’s the primary thing that the interviewer should see. Don’t TRY to be unique, just be who you are. That act itself is unique.

In the end, my interviewer told me that they felt like I was a good match for Georgetown and would write anything I wanted to the Adcom. I don’t, however, think this is a litmus test for the success of your interview. If you feel you did well, you did well. If not, maybe your just being your harshest critic. ;)

@ LittleRed: haha omg I totally neglected my own thread and came back today to say the same thing! My interviewer wants to do a phone interview too. I’m not a fan of speaking on the phone. I’d much rather do an in person interview. Oh well. Hopefully our interviews will be awesome =)

Did it today. Not sure how it went, but oh well.

@thabxborough: I had mine today. Doing a phone interview wasn’t that bad, although it would have been nice to speak face to face. But I think it went well. My interviewer was really sweet and happy to answer my questions and share stories with me about why she loved going to Georgetown. Good luck on your interview!
