Even with a 1950, it’s a big reach.

What is your SAT out of 1600 (reading + math) - Georgetown doesn’t consider the writing section. Being Asian is a plus - are you from California? If you apply early action at Georgetown, then you cannot apply early decision anywhere else. You might have a better shot at Duke or Cornell early decision. What do you want to study?

One additional statistic that is missing from the University’s web page was provided at the student Class of 2015 Convocation earlier this week. That stat was that of the 1,624 new freshmen entering the University, 791 of them were ranked 1, 2, or 3 in their high school’s graduating class.

@ Avondad - Hi, I thought of you when I saw this. I know that statistic and actually they used to have it posted on their page. It’s what I was going to copy & paste. I think it’s a pretty sobering stat. I’m not sure why it isn’t listed on this years profile page? I couldn’t remember the exact number and since I couldn’t find the stat I left it alone. Glad you were able to fill in my mental blank. See ya back at the ranch. :)

@ BI - I had heard anecdotally that Georgetown really liked to admit and go after the vals and sals but hadn’t seen any stats to validate the hearsay. The comment in the Convocation speech really brought it home. You are spot on that it is a very sobering statistic. That’s almost 49% of the entering class.

The best statement was next. “Of the 791 of you (entering students) who were number 1, 2, or 3 in your class, I can tell you that 788 of you will not repeat.”
