<p>Hi, I'm applying to Georgetown College for the class of 2015. Idk if I'm a good candidate b/c of my GPA; otherwise I think I'm pretty strong. I know I shouldn't be, but I'm stressing about my deferral. Anyway, I was deferred early action from Gtown this december and am wondering if I even have a decent chance to be accepted RD. My Stats:</p>
<p>GPA: about 3.6 unweighted overall
Strong Schedule Sr. Year (5 AP Classes)</p>
<p>ACT:34 composite
SAT:2220 CR-740 Writing-760 Math-720
Got a 5 on APUSH last year
National Merit Scholarship, commended student</p>
<p>Activities:
Eagle Scout
4th trumpet in allstate jazz band
Played in HS Jazz band all 4 years
Play in my own band as well.
Concert Band, 3 years
NHS
Started a chapter of JSA at my HS
VP of music honors society at my school.</p>
<p>I think you have a legit chance. Your scores are good, and it’s cool you’re an eagle scout. In my opinion, your EC’s could have been a bit stronger.</p>
<p>And I’m not sure why you made the comment “I’m worried about my deferral” because Georgetown doesn’t reject ANYONE EA</p>
<p>When it comes to ECs what matters is that you show passion, and it’s obvious that you’re dedicated to your music. Being in the NHS def. doesn’t hurt your chances and starting a chapter of JSA should be very appealing to a school like Georgetown. SAT is in range, no problems there. What AP’s in specific are you taking? Either way 5 is impressive. Some would say your unweighted GPA is a bit low but these schools know that there’s more merit in having a 3.6 with a few solid AP’s than a 4.0 in easy courses. Based on the people in my school that have gotten into Georgetown, I would say you should have a pretty good shot. Just make sure to keep doing really well on your classes, maybe take one or two SAT II’s if you still can in January. </p>
