Georgetown says it’s need-blind. I hope they’re not lying.

Hmm, a 30% acceptance rate.

Not really. EA is like 15 and they actually say “less than 10% will be accepted RD” which is nothing.

6736 apps
1010 accepted
5726 deferred
572 accepted (max)

So more like 23%.

Those of you lucky ducklings who got accepted… Do us all a huge favor and give us your stats plz thnx

@hotasaxastyle, that’s extremely twisted how you didn’t get in. Did something messed up happen? Also, you’re from ND? I’m from Maryland and have nothing yet. I’m only 45 minutes away???

same i live in Fairfax 5 minute drive from the nearest post office and 30 minutes from DC but i didn’t get my letter today…!!!

Does someone know something that I’m missing? How is it twisted? Do they have a 2400?

@CSIHIS, Not that anyone is more entitled than anyone else, but hoyasaxastyle had outstanding stats (URM, 2340 SAT, from Native American Tribe, Perfect SAT II Scores, and Valedictorian, and from ND) but I suppose this is the true randomness of college admissions.

If those stats for hoyasaxastyle aren’t enough, god only knows what is. Can’t say I’m confident about my chances after hearing that…

hoya originally was from ND but said he now lives on the East Coast.

I’m wondering whether Georgetown was afraid that hoyasaxastyle wouldn’t actually attend if she was admitted. Hoyasaxastyle is Harvard quality… maybe she would choose an Ivy over Georgetown? Just playing devil’s advocate.

@askboston that’s a good theory, but that’s no way to run an admission office at a school that I’m sure wants to be considered on HPY’s level, you know? Can’t get someone to come to your school of you don’t admit them.

G’town does not yield protect in EA (or probably any other time, as there are few places less concerned with the USNWR rankings than GU administration). The whole point of EA is they want more time to woo what they perceive as the cream of the crop.

Nothing in the mail in California.

He’s just messing with us guys.
@hoyasaxastyle I call your bluff

MD, DC suburb-accepted.
The acceptance letter states: This year, the Committee on Admissions considered over 6,800 applications, but limited the number of acceptances to approximately 13% of those who applied.
Good luck to hoyasaxastyle and the other deffereds

I’m not sleeping tonight.

13%?! Does that mean that the percentage accepted during RD who were deferred during EA will go up? Or down?

Good luck to everyone getting decisions tomorrow. Remember that no matter what the decision is, 1) you could still get in RD and 2) a college deferral says absolutely nothing about you as a person. I hope to hear lots of good news!!

I find this rather unsettling. After such an involved application process, an admission rate of 13% is rather depressing. :(

wow 13%…
It kind of annoys me to know that, since i live 30 minutes from DC, my letter is probably sitting at my post office and its most likely a fluke that i didn’t get it today…
