Georgetown Class of 2017 EA/RD Discussion Thread

The mailman came in three hours later than he was supposed to. It was supposed to come yesterday!! Either way, ACCEPTED! Check stats on stat page.

Nothing in Cali.

I just got an email from Georgetown telling my decision…did any other international applicant get an email?

^Congrats!!!
Nothing in the mail in FL. This waiting is really killing me. Now I’m thinking that my rec might not have made the Ed deadline- maybe I won’t even get a decision? Just getting crazy now

FA might not hear until tomorrow. New England hasn’t even heard yet. Don’t panic it’s probably on the way.

Deferred. Damn.

Arggh I hope we get them tmrw for California. So we can call the admissions for sure if we don’t get them by Saturday?

I guess so, but I won’t - too depressing.

Hi all! I just wanted to let you guys know that the acceptance letter contains 3 pieces of paper. It’s pretty thick in comparison to the deferral letter.

For all those worried about being deferred, I just want to remind you about the Connecticut shooting that occurred this morning. 20 children died without even having the chance to live their own lives. I just saw a grown man crying after telling a little boy that his sister died. The little boy just kept crying and said he had no one to play with. Please remember that there are worse things than being deferred.

Good luck to you all!

Now I am really depressed. :(

Done with my college final, think I did pretty okay.

By the way, my letter NYC is dated 12/12.

@sarahj no nothing in the mail today. Idk iv never been more nervous for anything in my life

Hi everyone, I’m a current freshmen at Georgetown and just wanted to congratulate all those who were accepted! For those who were deferred, you deserve a congratulations, too, as going through the whole college application process is a feat in and of itself. Trust me, being deferred isn’t the end of the world, and while it might feel like it right now, before you know it you’ll be accepted to some great places and feel so much better! So don’t give up hope yet, everyone ends up where they’re meant to be, so don’t take anything personally. Good luck to everyone, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask here or message me!

Also, I noticed that some of you were wondering if being Pre-med hurts you on your application- I’m a Biochemistry major and pre-med, and honestly, pre-med doesn’t really mean anything in terms of admissions. There is no limit to how many people can be pre-med, so it’s not a competitive track, and it doesn’t really matter what your grades are because saying you’re “pre-med” really just means you’re taking the classes that med schools want you to take. The only difference it really makes is that once you’re here and registering for classes, if you’re pre-med and for some reason you can’t get into one of the required courses (rare but it does happen sometimes), the deans will find some way to get you in, and the teachers are also pretty flexible about it.

Again, congratulations future hoyas! and good luck to all those deferred!
