Georgetown Class of 2017 EA/RD Discussion Thread

Don’t they normally accept some 10-15% of deferred applicants in the RD admissions process?

Don’t give up hope!

Has anyone else been accepted from SoCal?

@sarahj what other schools are you applying to?

@RobbiePonce99: I’m in San Diego and just received my SFS acceptance (ecstatic, BTW). Where are you located?

Deferred, as predicted. Deep sigh…

does anyone know how many people apply to nhs and how many are accepted? i really want go the nhs

DD accepted to SFS. (from HI)
Happy for her, but not sure how to pay for it

All I know is like a lot more people applied to NHS this year.

Accepted! Sat 1450, uw 4.0, only 6 aps, 2 last year. 8 to 15 hours of work per week, nhs parliamentarian, German lessons, religious school teacher, horseback riding, intern at NGO. Sat II: math 2 670.

What school? :D

Elise, did you just take/submit the one subject test?

@Youdon’tsay

Having three SAT IIs isn’t an absolute must for admission - I got accepted when I thought I’d get deferred for sure because I didn’t submit/take any!

I’ve just started paying attention so this is the first time I’ve heard of people getting in without the recommended three. If you look at my ds’s stats you’ll see the no. 1 thing I was worried about was his crummy third ST, which he only took for G’town. It didn’t keep him out, but I wish I’d known that it wasn’t unusual for people to get in without gong that exta mile.

My SAT iis were legit horrendous (630, 630, 590). I was accepted, so clearly they aren’t taken into account all that much

I think the majority of people who apply take them, but I don’t think they’re given much weight by the admissions people. I didn’t take them because I didn’t know they were “strongly recommended” until after the time frame in which it would have been prudent for me to take them had gone by. I did, however, take both the ACT and SAT, and I noticed that a decent number of people who posted on the results thread didn’t take the ACT.

Yes! I live in LA and I just got my acceptance letter this afternoon :)

@TsionA I can’t reply because apparently you need to have 15 posts?!
