Georgetown Class of 2017 EA/RD Discussion Thread

Accepted into the NHS school today! Was really excited, and also a little taken aback when I read the letter, deep down I was not expecting this! WIll post stats in the other thread later, but to those accepted, congrats!! For those rejected, you are going to end up somewhere amazing, no matter what. And my waitlisted friends, hang in there, you’ve got this!

Letter just arrived but daughter won’t be home till late tonight. Envelope feels heavier than a single page but not real thick. Wish I could read through envelope!

^^ It was 46 cents on my denial letter, but hopefully it is on an accept as well!

Waitlisted in Texas
one letter explaining wait list, one letter with georgetown’s waitlist statistics, and a reply form with envelope

ACCEPTED!!! Extremely excited!!! I live in the So Cal area…hoping my financial aid letter will come soon!!

Waitlisted in WA. Sigh… is there any hope?

Brief stats for posterity: 1540/2340, 3.99

Accepted in OK! Feel so blessed, but not sure if I should go because I have heard that their Computer Science Program isn’t that good in comparison to the University of Maryland’s College Park’s Computer Science Program…

Accepted envelope was $.46…

Just got my financial aid letter, and it looks like I’ll be heading to Georgetown next year!! It is supposedly a stingy school but they gave me fantastic financial, it was by far the cheapest option, even beating out my state schools. I can’t wait.

no mail today from socal
what should i do?

Wow tmmycar! You got in here too huh. I am also in that exact position. Hopefully FA can help me make my decision.

@biguk997, call the admissions office. They ARE allowed to release admissions info over the phone, but you will have to call within their hours, which may be tricky in So Cal. I called for my EA decision, because my letter didn’t arrive on time. They will transfer you to someone who can help.

Accepted from GA to play football next year.

My son is a soph in the Col, and we love GU. It’s an absolutely fantastic institution and we feel so lucky to have our son attend! The following is just a cautionary tale for all future applicants.

We were very disappointed that our daughter got rejected this year. We will never know for sure, but we feel it is likely due to the fact the the local alumni coordinator made a now admitted error and never scheduled her interview, even after we emailed her to let her know she hadn’t been contacted (she never replied to that email). We pointed this out to admissions and got a bunch of bureaucratic talk about the lack of an interview not playing into admissions decisions (hard to believe, given they state it is mandatory!!).

Moral to the story, interviews are mandatory and if you don’t get contacted call the admissions office every day until they confirm one has been scheduled. Don’t let them push you off to the local alumni coordinator who then doesn’t reply…

We love GU and this incident won’t change that, but we are disappointed with the admissions staff for making the error and then not owning up to it and rectifying it. We hope they correct their system so it doesn’t happen to another applicant in the future.
