Georgetown Class of 2017 EA/RD Discussion Thread

Wow, I had my interview yesterday. It was 1 hr and 40 min. Is that unusually long?

^^ Yes, that’s pretty long! My interviewer told me that they’re usually supposed to be 20-30 minutes long…

﴾͡๏̯͡๏﴿ I thought so…

My interview is on Saturday at a Starbucks (how original). Not looking forward to it

You are applying too karate!? Good luck with dat interview though. :)

Yeah, junior! My bro is actually a freshman at g’town and I live in No.va so it’s a top choice of mine!

I have my interview tomorrow! 9:30 AM sharp! Any tips or questions I should ask?

^Just be enthusiastic. Ask what makes Georgetown unique. (Jesuitness, location)

Also, who thinks we should make a [pledge page](Offiical Yale 2017 SCEA Pledge Thread - Yale University - College Confidential Forums)?

Just got out of my interview. It was 30 minutes. Sort of felt like the interviewer was trying to rush out of there near the end.

I would rate my interview 4/10

We should definitely make one @JuniorMint. Our stats would be helpful for RD applicants and EA deferrals.

Is anyone else as excited/scared/horrified/edgy/confused/optimistic/pessimistic as I am?
Could December 15th BE any further from now?

I’ve been lurking on this thread awhile but I’m starting to get anxious so I thought I’d join the conversation. I applied to SFS, Culture and Politics. I alternate between optimism and pessimism constantly. My interview was last week. It made me really excited about Georgetown. My interviewer asked me to let her know when I get my admissions decision, so now I’m worried I’ll have to give her bad news. Anyone else have this problem?

Hmm, I would assume that they wrote you a favorable interview report then. If they just wanted to verify that they successfully scuttled your application, then…you may have something to worry about.

Generally, I don’t think interviewers ask that of the student.

Also, Yal3Girl! lol, you are applying to Northeastern too? Are you still applying to Yale?

Lucky for me, she was very friendly and told me she would write a “glowing” report, though she said she wasn’t sure how much weight it would really have in admissions. She’s involved in an organization connecting female mentors in the international relations field to younger women, so she was really supportive and had lots of advice and stuff. It was really a great interview. I would feel bad if I had to disappoint her. I guess it’s just another thing to add to my anxieties.

I don’t think so JuniorMint  I was really excited about Yale when I joined this forum (haha hence the name:P) but I visited the university this summer and didn’t completely fall in love with it. New Haven’s definitely not for everyone…
But yeahh I’m applying to Northeastern (go Huskies!). The campus/location/co-op program/professors/everything-else couldn’t be any more perfect for me(:
Are you considering NU as well??
And is Georgetown definitely your first choice??

Wow eniloracw… that sounds like the perfect interviewer… Mine was a bit aloof. He worked for the secret service and I thought that was cool, but the whole time we were talking it kind of felt like he had 10,000 other places he could have been at that moment. It didn’t feel like he was interested in the interview at all, but he definitely tried not to make it seem that way :3
I wouldn’t worry … it sounds like she genuinely wants the best for you!

Georgetown is not my first choice because I am likely to be deferred. I bombed a Subject Test and have a possibly suspicious academic record. (I take dual-enrollment classes rather than APs.) My stats are slightly competitive (4.0/1540), but I am not very confident. Also, my interview was so long it was boring for both of us.

Actually, I applied to NU (and Fordham) EA! Maybe I will see you there. For RD I am applying to UVA, W&M, Cornell (my first choice), Dartmouth, Yale, and UPenn.

What about you? :)

I applied to Northeastern and Fordham EA too!

high fives

Are you a NMSF too?

Chance Me? Applied EA Georgetown College
