Good luck!

it’s incredibly frightening to think that i’ll be filling this out in <3 weeks…

Letters might be mailed tomorrow.

Oh god, most of the country will get letters Monday

I’m on the verge of having a panic attack! Hope everyone gets in. *fingers crossed

Bumping this one up to the top for what is potentially D-Day!

Does anyone know when the decisions will arrive by to international students?

Is this a time travelling thread?

Congratulations to all who have been accepted. GU is a great school! To all deferred, hang in there because GU admits a fair amount of the deferrals in RD

On behalf of son

Hey, muckdogs07, i don’t know why GU would not accept him, seems he is a great fit! Sure he will go to his ideal school eventually.

The reason someone made a new thread is because it’s supposed to be strictly for results, none of this discussion at all.

Awk, I just posted.

Decision: Deferred

School: College

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (Superscore)(Single-sitting): 2250 (both superscore and single-sitting, technically)
[] SAT breakdown: M=700, CR=760 (W=790)
[] ACT: n/a
[] SAT II: Bio-E = 640, USH = 690, M1 = 730 (I also sent a second round, not sure if it made it in time for decisions, but Lit = 710 and Bio-M = 650)
[] Unweighted GPA: no idea, something like 3.8
[] Weighted GPA: somewhere around 4.35 on 5.0 scale
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 10/366
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): World History (4), US History (5), English Lang. (5), Biology (5), Calc AB (5)
[] IB (place score in parenthesis): n/a
[] Senior Year Course Load: AP US Government, AP English Lit., AP German, AP Art History, AP Calc BC, AP Chem, Newspaper
[] Rigor of Schedule: most rigorous. I believe I took the second most AP courses in high school of anyone in my class (12 total)
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel, NMSF etc.): NMSF Semi-Finalist, AP Scholar w/ Distinction (are these real awards? idk)
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Academic Extracurriculars: Newspaper (editor), Literary Guild (co-president), Science Club (president), National Honor Society, Hometown High-Q (local quiz TV show) semi-finalists in 2011-12, 2012 Science Bowl regional finalists. Probably some other stuff I’m forgetting.
[] Other (Instrumental, Athletic): 2 years varsity tennis, 2 years varsity ice hockey
[] Job/Work Experience: Picked up a job at the Gap at my local mall senior year. Work about 12 hours a week.
[] Volunteer/Community service: Minimal. I’m in NHS and I help teach old people computers at the local library sometimes.
[] Summer Activities: Trip to Europe, some volunteering, not much else.
[] Essays: Fabulous! Some of the best things I’ve written in years, and I’m a damn good writer, if I do say so myself.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Excellent.
[] Counselor Rec: Excellent.
[] Additional Rec 1: Excellent.
[] Alumni Interview: Par for the course. We didn’t make a connection or anything but I answered all the questions and presented myself well.
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: I think? I checked the box saying that I would…
[] Intended Major: Government
[] State (if domestic applicant): Pennsylvania
[] Country (if international applicant): n/a, USA
[] School Type: Non-competitive public
[] Number of applicants from school: just yours truly…
[] Ethnicity: As white as it gets
[] Gender: Male
[] Income Bracket: 100K+
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, recruited athlete, legacy): goose egg
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: SAT score? Very rigorous schedule, great essays and recommendations
[] Weaknesses: NO HOOK… weak SAT IIs, lack of community service?
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: No hook… I’m a well-rounded candidate but I lack any outstanding qualities.
[] Where else are you applying: Brown (wonder what they’ll think of me after I got deferred from GTown?), Vassar, Emory, Northwestern, Michigan, Duke, maybe WUSTL
[/ul]General Comments: I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little dejected. I feel better than I thought I would about being deferred. Mad props to whoever got in… this college admissions thing is getting more cruel by the year. If anything, I’m a little freaked out now that NO college is going to want me. Life goes on.

Decision: Accepted
School: College, I think

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I: 750+ on all three sections, single sitting
[] SAT II: Two strong ones and one bad one that I thought might keep him out. I’m not talking a little “bad,” like 680. I’m talking 25th percentile bad.
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Unranked, competitive HS
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): AP Scholar w/Distinction based on six APs junior year

[] Additional Rec: None. He thought about getting one from the congressman for whom he interned but decided against it. Seemed kind of brown-nosey.
[] Alumni Interview: He thought it went poorly. The one interview he was NOT happy about.
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes. Lots
[] Intended Major: Not sure
[] School Type: Public
[] Gender: Male
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, recruited athlete, legacy): URM
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Good SAT score in single sitting. Excellent ECs and summer activities.
[] Weaknesses: That bad ST score. Need for FA
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: His activities and app reflect his passions. No doing things just to look good. He’s terribly handsome, so maybe the picture helped. ;)

[/ul]General Comments: I’m posting these limited stats and thoughts for future applicants but don’t want to give too much detail. My advice to future applicants is to do things you love because you love them, not because you think they’ll impress some adcom somewhere. When you look at my son’s entire app, you see how his employment dovetails with his ECs, which dovetail with his volunteer work, which dovetails with his internship and other summer activities. It all just makes sense.
