I’m taking the SAT next month, so if I do poorly but apply EA and my scores go straight to Georgetown, can I be flat out rejected or does everyone get deferred? I could just apply RD but I’d love to avoid the 3 subject test requirement if possible.
@ghvan99 Anyone who is not outright accepted in the EA round is deferred. I would take the 3 subject test requirement just in case.
Hey, guys! I just submitted my application yesterday for EA!!! I was wondering… does anyone know how Georgetown sends out admission decisions? Will we eventually check them using the same account we made for the application?
@nmocha567 I heard they send everything by mail.
@sunshine232 oh, wow! That’s a bit surprising to me! Thanks for letting me know.
@sunshine232 Yea its my understanding that decisions are by mail, unless you are international
How strict is the one page single spaced suggestion for the length of the school specific essay?
I have my interview tomorrow! Any advice from any of you who have had it already?
@luvquizbowl Have a solid answer to “Why Georgetown?” It will definitely be asked.
Also, how do we know if Georgetown has our transcript or test scores? I can’t seem to figure this out.
@nmocha567 It won’t give you a notification for test scores, but for transcripts it should send you a confirmation email. for your guidance counselor’s rec letter, which should say that they also submitted your transcript and “supporting documents.”
Hi everyone,
My daughter has submitted her EA app and sent all materials. On the “Activity” page that says what they have received there are two lines with her counselor’s name. One says completed and the other says “has not started yet”.
My daughter called them and they told her that that will stay that way until they receive her midyears. That sounded stranger to me, so I called myself and got the same answer. Does anyone else have that same “has not started yet” next to counselor’s name???
Thanks!
@collegemomjam Yes, I have this too. The second line is, in fact, for the midyear report. That’s why you had to enter your counselor’s name twice, once under the mid-year report category. Don’t worry about it!
My school still has to mail in the school profile. Will it be a problem if it does not arrive at the admissions office by November 1st? Or is it fine as long as it’s postmarked before the deadline?
Thanks @sunshine232! And @2017ar I think it says postmarked…but if they mail it tomorrow, I bet they will get it by the first. Can you ask them to mail it tomorrow?
Can someone chance me? GPA: 4.52 (Top 5%) I have a lot of extra curriculars and did very well in my interview it is just my test scores are low. I have a 30 ACT, 670 Math 1 540 Math 2 670 Lit. Am I doomed? I also have a recommendation letter from an alumni who is highly connected and knows the dean. Georgetown is my first choice and I am just so nervous.
Find five or so things that you really want to show the alumni how passionate and dedicated you are to those activities. Talk about them in detail. Do not be afraid to brag a little, but try not to come off as pretentious. Also, show your interest in the interviewer and compile a list of specific questions you have for them. Maybe do a little research on them beforehand. What was their major? Show them YOU are interested in Georgetown, be friendly, and be conversational. I had a great experience with my interviewers, I had two alumni, just be yourself and show them how great you are and why you should be admitted.
@college2021___ Your ACT and (particularly) Subject Tests are very low (Math 2 if 7th percentile). I would recommend retaking all of these tests (and adding a non-Math Subject). I assume that you are not applying EA?
Where did you guys have your interview?
@1zogden1 in a public library.
