@FlyingCeline I think that whether or not you will get accepted depends on two things. First, your grades. However, secondly and more importantly, you have a lot of extracurriculars that could look two different ways to colleges: either you’re super spread out but not really in-depth in anything, or you have very developed interests that you have invested a lot of time and energy in. I think that you should choose to focus on and advertise the ones that you think fit with what you want to do, and write about them in a way that showcases what you want to showcase.

@hahahannah You should definitely write about MUN in your essay, and the leadership role that you played in it. I think you have a good shot! Go SFS!

@therealdeal23 You seem like a super strong candidate to me.

School: SFS

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM, Quadruplet

@NikkuWadde - I think you have a good chance of getting accepted. Make sure you take three SAT subject tests and try to get 700+ on them. I think your language proficiency will stand out to the admissions board. Yeah, your GPA is a tiny bit on the low side but if you’re in the top 10% I don’t think it will be too much of a problem. If you really want to be sure, I would recommend that you retake the ACT or SAT (if you get less than 1400), to try to get you’re highest score possible. Basically alot of things about you may stand out to the admissions board - being an URM, quadruplet, proficiency in 3 languages, so highly recommend that you apply.

Mk, I dunno if I’m gonna take the SATs, because I’m still in Morocco right now, and Arabic is pretty much all I do, and I don’t have time to study… I don’t want to take a test if I’m going to do poorly simply because of lackluster studying.

@NikkuWadde I think that you should definitely apply EA if you don’t want to take the subject tests. You can write a quick note to them on your application that says that. I think it’s a reasonable excuse for not taking the tests. You just need to prove to them in your essays that you’re a well-rounded person. I personally think you’d be a great candidate for SFS, and you need to be yourself in your essays so that they’ll see that you’re a good fit.

Lmao. Thanks @luvquizbowl. I think you guys misunderstand me. I have taken 3 subject tests, I’m just waiting for my scores to come out on the 21st lol. And hopefully my essays show I’m a good candiate. In my personal essay, I’m talking about how my struggle to find my individuality as a quadruplet led to me discovering my passion for international relations. In my extracurricular essay I’m talking about my exchange to Morocco with the state dept, and for the SFS essay I’m talking about racism in the Middle East (I’m black), because I’ve experienced quite a bit of racism here in Morocco. (I still love it here tho). 10/10 would Morocco again.

@NikkuWadde PLZ APPLY! If there’s one thing I can tell you is that you don’t know and you wouldn’t want to look back and regret not going for something you want! Tbh I think u exhibit the passion and the drive and that’s all you really can do. Just try your best with your SAT or ACT and everything will work itself out! Good luck

Thanks for the feedback @luvquizbowl! Do you think I should I apply EA or RD to increase my chances of getting in?

@therealdeal23 it’s up to u but Ik the admissions officer said there is no advantage at GU if U apply early.
I say if u have all ur stuff done and feel comfortable maybe go for it

Do you have to have a good excuse not to take subject tests for EA? If I get deferred I will take them for RD but I’m not prepared for the October date. I have one decent score(720) and will take two more for EA if necessary. The website said your application will still be considered complete without subject tests for EA but I didn’t know if that’s true or only if you have good reasons. Just like how most colleges only “recommend” subject tests but it’s pretty much expected unless it’s because of a financial burden, etc.

@class0f2017 You should have an excuse handy, but if it’s simply that you weren’t ready, that would probably be fine. They’re a bit more lenient with it during EA based on what I’ve seen around here. However, when I called, they said that it would be a good idea to have them for EA just because it helps them to have more information about your strengths. I can only imagine that they’d prefer a candidate who has their subject tests and did somewhat decently than someone who has none at all. They’re not going to make any assumptions, so it’s better for them to go off of something.

So it’s totally just recommended, but it’s recommended for good reason. Most applicants have three subject tests, so if they see your application and notice that you’re missing two, they’re likely to scrutinize you more. That’s just how this works, I think.

@therealdeal23 I personally feel that there’s no harm in applying EA. The acceptance rates are about the same for EA and RD, except you’re guaranteed to be deferred if you don’t get in EA, so you might as well (right?). It’s good to know early. For me personally, I’m applying early because if I get in, I’m going to be able to spend a lot less money and write a lot less essays because I won’t have to apply to all of the schools that I wouldn’t even consider going to over Georgetown (I have a bunch of schools with ~30% acceptance rates that I’d probably get into, but I’d rather go to GTown). If I don’t get in, then I know I’ll have to do those. If I saved it for RD, I wouldn’t know and I’d definitely have to write all of those essays. It all depends on your preference, though.

Could someone chance me? I’m planning on applying regular decision.
