***GEORGETOWN CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD***

You can’t actually start the app until you pay for it, so you should do that as soon as possible so you can actually start the essays and stuff.

Uhm… really, I’ve started my app and stuff and I haven’t payed a single cent @luvquizbowl @therealdeal23

@NikkuWadde after you submit the first part it makes you pay

What other schools are you guys looking at other than Georgetown?

@class0f2017

Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Haverford, University of Pittsburgh, University of Connecticut, University of Central Florida, Temple University, Fordham University, and Stevens Institute of Technology

I know they are all quite diverse but I am not a picky person and money is the #1 concern for me

@luvquizbowl @1zogden1 True, after you submit the first part it prompts you to pay. My son started his app back in June and, following the instructions, he completed part 1 and paid the fee. He didn’t receive the ID right away but once you do the ID is not requested to continue so it made me think that he could have also started it right after he completed part 1. We were primarily interested in his starting part 1 right away because the importance of completing part 1 and creating your application ID, @nikkuwadde, is to get your interview scheduled early. Interviewers are going to start in September and my son would like to get it done as early as possible and complete his application. Your contact information will not be provided to an interviewer until you submit the fee.

@SonofAbraham Same I am trying for big scholarships at my safeties and big aid at my reaches.

@class0f2017 my college list: Georgetown, Villanova, BC, Northeastern, NYU, GW, Bentley, SUNY Binghamton (in that order). What other schools are you looking at?

@1zogden1 Hey I remember you, we had the same SAT score back in March I think. I’m looking at a lot of the same schools actually. Not exactly sure of my final list, but thinking of Georgetown, BC, Villanova, Northeastern, Rochester, Ohio State, Pitt, Penn State, and maybe Cornell and CMU.

@Classof2017 Duke, UNC, Dartmouth, Cornell, JHU, WashU, Penn State, Miami, UVA, Michigan, Emory

But why does getting your interview done matter? If you pay the fee, and get interviewed, it shouldn’t matter when you got interviewed, because you still paid @paveyourpath

Also I’m applying at OSU, U Mich Ann Arbor, Priceton, U Chicago and my safeties.

@nikkuwadde It’s all preference, right? Some people want to have greater options in when it gets scheduled than pay the fee in October and have less scheduling options.

@class0f2017 I’m applying to GTown, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, American, George Washington (in that order). I have a lot of reach schools just because I want to see where I can get in, and if not, then American and GW are still really strong international relations schools that give merit scholarships.

@NikkuWadde There really doesn’t seem to be a point in not submitting the fee, especially because doing it earlier may show your interviewer (and by extension, Georgetown admissions) that you took the initiative to get everything done earlier. Unless you have a valid reason to hold off on it, I don’t see why not.

Hey guys, can someone clear up the subject test policy if you are applying early action. Do you need to have taken 3 subject tests if you are applying early action? I currently have two subject tests, and want to know if I should sign up for the october test date to take a 3rd one.

How do I stack up compared with the other applicants? Looking at the admit rates, I think I’ve decided to apply RD, especially because my SAT IIs aren’t good enough yet.

@therealdeal23 You don’t even have to take 3 subject tests for RD. It’s just recommended. For EA, they’ll probably tend to be more understanding if you don’t/can’t take three, but I don’t think there’s any reason to. When I called undergraduate admissions they recommended it simply because it helps them get a better picture of you. If you think you’d do reasonably well, you should go for it and start studying now.

Anybody else applying to MSB? It has the lowest acceptance rate which is worrying me.

@therealdeal23 AO said you can apply EA without having taken the 3 subject tests. However, if you are deferred to RD, you are to update your application with the subj test results. You should go through the site as these questions are answered there.

I haven’t taken the SAT Subject Tests yet. Can I still apply Early Action?
Absolutely. If you are a senior and have not yet taken recommended SAT Subject Tests you may still apply Early Action and your application will receive full consideration. We do recommend that you register for these exams in the event that your application is deferred to Regular Decision.

@luvquizbowl I am not sure why you think the 3 subject tests are recommended. Under the checklist, it doesn’t state recommended and they expect the 3 to be taken for RD applications.
