Wait list is not the same as being deferred to Regular Decision especially in the case of legacy applicants.
I removed my post to avoid any confusion. I am aware that there is a difference between a waitlist and and a defer. The number of students who accepted a spot on the waitlist and were eventually admitted was 86.
Hereâs the Common Data Set though for Georgetown which I still think is helpful. Box
Yes my daughter was deferred too.
have you guys received an email to join the facebook group? i know some people have but i havenât gotten one yet.
no, i havenâtâŠ
Thatâs the same letter we got. I and my father both graduated from GU. It sounds like they sent that to legacies that they werenât sure would get it until Spring if at all.
You should have a great chance then.
my insta is @liettaioannou for anyone who was also accepted and wants to talk!
I donât know how much legacy status actually helps in the end. The applicant pool is so strong.

You donât need a formal invitation. You can request to join the group and an official GAAP member will let you in.
Whatâs the group?
itâs called âThe Georgetown University Class of 2025 - Official GAAP Groupâ
Anyone have any advice when it comes to the special skills essay? Should I write in bullet point form or an essay about a specific skill of mine?
do whatever feels right. i did 6-8 bullets and was accepted EA
did you explain every skill or did you just list them?
i only explained 3 out of the 9 I listed
My daughter was deferred. Weâre already thinking about the possibility of her entering another school and transferring if she doesnât get in as a Freshman. So far, we have identified George Washington as a good place for her to attend if it doesnât work out. Are there any other schools that you would recommend where the International Relations program is strong? Must have strong foreign language programs, too. Thanks!
hi im just a HS senior but I would def recommend American University !
I know that Georgetown has a lower than typical acceptance rate for EA compared to other competitive schools (where statistically students have a higher chance of acceptance if they apply EA/ED). Does anyone have any idea as to whether a deferral on EA to Georgetown is really the same as a gentle denial (as it is at most other schools?) Or is there still a legitimate chance for admission?
I was thinking the same since they defer everyone. Then To find out youâre on the wait listâŠ
