Georgetown compared to other schools

So how does Georgetown compare to other schools in the area- GW, American?
Reputation? Academics? Sports?
I only applied to Georgetown and now I wish that I had at least applied to American (their online app fee is waived.)

I don't know about sports, but in terms of reputation and academics gtown is way better

I agree with Shaganov. GU is more widely known and more prestigious than GW & American.

georgetown is far superior academically

in sports gw is probably equal to georgetown

I agree, their reputation and academics are superior compared to other DC schools. Regarding sports, doesn't Georgetown own basketball and lacrosse?

Gtown is 21st while GW is 14th currently in the AP Poll (college basketball).
So yes, both are good

Pretty much all three school are terrible at all sports that aren't basketball.....American is also bad at basketball...

GW has been really great over the last few years
and Gtown is jsut starting to get good again

gtown rocks at rowing... if anyone is interested...

Georgetown's reputation is by far the best, but GW's is getting better. If you don't think you have a good shot at gtown, you can apply to GW too. A lot of people apply to GW as a safety if they still want to be in DC.
Gtown's basketball is on the rise, hopefully you watched the Duke game. GO HOYAS!!

better yet... we should call it "the Georgetown Game..." ; )

Georgetown is much more prestigious, but American and GWU each have their own claims to fame. GWU has an excellent political science program; American has excellent political science and journalism/communications. However, Georgetown is obviously better academically

All three teams suck at football. Georgetown and GWU are both really good at basketball; American sucks at it too.

GW doesn't have a football team and I'm pretty sure American doesn't either. Georgetown's is mediocre but they just got a new coach who was the defensive coordinator at Marshall a few years back and has been at Navy and hopefully he'll get things moving quickly. The Patriot League is pretty tough as far as Div-IAA football goes.

Georgetown definately has a more work hard play hard mentality than GW. Georgetown has a pretty active party scene on weekends but on weekends the library is pretty flooded.
