so no one got denied?

They don’t reject people EA.

I got deferred. From southern public school, only person at my school that applied. I have a 34 on the ACT, 2140 super scored SAT (all over 700), 2100 in one sitting. 710- math 2, 680- m. bio, and 660- English lit (this one is bad I know).
I’m student body president and involved in many clubs at school. Varsity quiz bowl. I compete in ski racing in the NC mountains. Service work with the local hospital and service work in Peru that really helped me decide what I want to do with my career (Public health). Applied to the college as a bio of global health major.
Is it worth retaking the SAT to add to my RD file? Or should I just wait it out until April?

Got deferred this morning. Super disappointed. I am an international applicant and GU is my TOP choice. It doesn’t come as a total shock though. I applied to SFS and apparently they have a particularly low acceptance rate for Chinese students.
Questions: 1. Should I send an e-mail now to reaffirm my interest and ask if there is any particular reason for deferral or should I do it in February?
2. I don’t plan on retaking the SAT I (CR 710 M 800 W 710). Are my scores acceptable for GU?
…Someone posted this last year/the year before/…(I really can’t remember)…Faith, if strong enough, can trump fate. So I am holding on to my faith and hopefully everything comes through in April!

I think sending an email a little later on discussing how it’s still your first choice, what you’ve done since December, and possibly send another rec.

Candid appraisal time! SFS said maybe later.

After opening the letter containing the bad news I went through several stages of grief. First, a burst of brief sadness followed by the overwhelming fact that there is nothing I can do to change this situation (i.e. finality). I finally understood Modernist Literature for a few seconds. Then sadness again, then disappointment.

Stats:
ACT: 31C (33E, 30M, 35R, 29S).
SATII: 710 MATH I, 660 US/LIT.
APs: Lang, US, CompSci AB all 5s.
GPA: (perhaps my app was shredded after the sight of this) 3.678U, 3.864W (but weighted seems pretty useless to me…).
All honors classes, but freshman year was an extended ride on the struggle shuttle (more like an RV, though, because I seemingly lived on this struggle vehicle). 3.5 freshman, 3.7, sophomore, 3.8junior…senior???
Not to mention my SAT is all over the place (fairly bad, actually. We’re talking 580 one sitting to 720 the next for who knows why). I’m just an ACT guy!

I am not shocked by the deferral, but it is saddening. Although my high school really pushed me in the beginning, I’ve learned more in these (almost) 4 years than I have at any time in my life–and I’ve loved it! And it just is a testament to how formative college is going to be for me (especially since I know how to adjust more quickly). This is why it is somewhat paramount to me that I attend such a great university, where I can fully indulge in learning and its associated challenges.

But GU is a top tier school, and I don’t exactly have stats to match. Not to mention, I had to start in Spanish I freshman year while my peers are zooming through Spanish VI (SFS focusses on success in modern languages).

We’ll see I guess…we’ll see…

One thing is for sure, I’ll still hold on to my passion for international relations and other hobbies for which I pursue ardently!

G’luck everyone. It feels good to say all of this…

I got deferred from Georgetown and I’m actually quite shocked that I didn’t get rejected. To be honest, I earn average grades and I got a really low SAT score (I swear I’m not a dumbass) so I didn’t expect to be given a second chance. But recently I checked on their website and it says applicants should take the SAT subject tests and I even called the admissions office but they said it was optional. Do you guys know if anyone has ever got accepted even though they didn’t take the SAT subject tests?
Does anyone know how to edit their essays?
@qwertystar I’ve been wondering the same thing. I plan to call in the New Year. Let me know if you find out!
@qwertystar @ambikav99 You can’t edit your essays once you have been deferred. What you can do is send a letter of continued interest, update them with grades, awards, etc.
@yonceonhismouth What is a letter of continued interest? Meaning, what does it consist of? My parents don’t know much about college admissions process and I’m on my own right now…
@PAwind98 Just a short letter explaining that you remain very interested in Georgetown- it’s similar to the letter one would send if one was waitlisted. if Georgetown is your first choice, you can state that.
@yonceonhismouth You basically express that Georgetown is still your top choice (if it is) and give them an update of what you have been working on since you submitted your application. For example, if you won a new award, you could let them know of that in your letter. It’s usually not a long letter, just half a page to show your interest.
Sorry if someone already said this, but where should we send/email the letters to?
