Georgetown Dorms

I'm probably not going to GAAP weekend. I have never been to Gtown (though I've visited DC several times). I know how beautiful the campus is from pics, but I want to see the dorms. After searching through 2005/4 forums, I've found this link with a few pics (and I admit, dorms are looking great!) but are there any more pics?

I took the dorm tour at the GAAP weekend. Here is my impression.

Darnall was the first dorm we toured. It's out of the way, but not nearly as much as people say. It's really close to the Leavey Center. The rooms are standard. Nothing special, not too small, not too big. Didn't get to check out the bathrooms.

Then we went to Village C. These dorms are BY FAR the smallest, especially if you don't bunk your beds. Even when you do, they are TINY. The Perk is you get your own bathroom. The bathrooms are actually nice, and have a whole tub/shower.

New South had REALLY nice rooms. They were big and had lots of room, even if you didn't bunk your beds. They also had their own sink/mirror. New South is also supposed to be the "social" dorm. Didn't get to check out the bathrooms.

Harbin also has really nice rooms with some space. They have some really cool windows in the Harbin dorms too. Didn't get to check out the bathrooms, but the cluster style seemed okay. The tour guide lived there, and he said he never had a problem with all the showers being used.

That's just my impression, but we only went into one room in each dorm.

The bathrooms in Darnell are okay, not hotel luxurious, but pretty good. The showers have two sections/stalls, one to put your belongings in and then one for showering.

For Village C, when I visited, we went to a rather large room, but the tour guide said that it was the exception. Hope this helps! :)

does anyone have any info about the transfer dorms? nspeds? haha

I'm a little confused about the Co-ed thing, though....How do they seperate girls/guys..(by dorm level/building/etc?)

Almost all floors are mixed gender. Harbin gender is seperated by clusters, although there is one floor that's all women. In New South, Darnall and Village C women/men are divided by section of the floor or on different sides basically.

I’ve stayed overnight at Georgetown, and I thought they were actually on the large side, at least the ones we stayed in. We had about 10 guys in one room playing poker, which I think shows that they’re pretty good size.

I could have sworn that there was some Georgetown housing site that had pictures of all the dorms and panormaic views… but now I can’t find it. Anyone else know what I"m talking about?

Village C has private bathrooms, which I loved. Some of the rooms are small, though I was lucky enough to get a large room with a great view, so I guess it’s luck.

Georgetown dorms are the only ones I’ve ever been in, so I don’t really have any frame of reference… all I can say is that a double is smaller than my room! :-p But, of course, that’s to be expected. I stayed in a dorm during a week-long summer program - the building directly to the right of the building you’re facing if you’re entering the main gates and looking past the statue, for those of you who have visited. We shared a bathroom with the adjoining double and had a lovely view of the cemetery through the window. Beyond that, there’s not much to say.
