I didn’t realize the special talents section was meant to be like an essay- I figured my resume already covered music and all that…panicking!
We hear back in only… 16 days though…

At my school, which is predominantly comprised of Europeans, people think that it is somehow “easier” to get into American schools. They think that just because it is America there is somehow a lower standard than in the UK, etc.

I think it’s something to do with foreigners paying higher fees than domestics?? I know St. Andrews has a reputation for maintaining high standards for Scots, who attend for free, while they have significantly lower standards for non UK/EU citizens. I’m not sure if US universities follow the same format, but it does make sense.

Well the US is much more expensive than any European school for a non-US citizen. What I meant was that there is a notion that the US is behind Europe in terms of education and thus its universities are of less quality (except for HYP; those are the only ones people know of here).

People here think that getting into the Ivies is easier than to top British schools, even when those British schools mainly look at IB exam grades as the main factor for admission.

In reality I think it is much harder for non-US citizens to get into American schools when there are quotas for the number of international students coupled with the fact that internationals have somewhat lower test scores (although some schools take this into consideration).

Hey I sent an email to guapplication@georgetown.edu a while ago to update my app and I never received a reply…did anyone have the same experience?

@JalapenoGreens I did a while ago…I think I asked them something about teacher recs and naviance. They did not reply to me via email so I called them instead. They were very nice and helpful over the phone!

Only 2 weeks left, maybe less! So nervous…

I emailed yesterday, got a response today, if that helps.

so so nervous

I did not do an interview and my sat2 scores were the worst things ever (and I took them in November)
do you guys think this will hurt my chances big time?
georgetown is my number one…):

idk, but you could always test again in dec for regular preemptively, if you’re worried? Why didn’t the interview happed? If there’s a reason I don’t think its a big deal…

I’m concerned because my first and last essays were really long - though I think well-written - but maybe not personal enough. What did you all write about?

i did not get an email from them and only found out a few days ago.
i emailed them but haven’t got a response yet.
i’ve lost all hope basically

So wait I’m really confused about how we will find out. I know some schools update decisions online the day that they come out, but does Georgetown just do letters?

To Clarify:

Decisions will be out in the mail to all except for Internationals who will receive an email. If you look at previous threads, the decisions will most likely come out the week of the 15th. Don’t know exactly when though.

@latoswitz @bulldog19 decisions should arrive at our houses on the 15th if you are a domestic applicant. Sometimes it can be a day or two later. Georgetown mails their decisions by region so they get to everyone within a few days of each other. So it’s possible to see some letters next Friday depending on location. D.c. Kids will probably find out first.

the days when i was a dc kid…maybe they will confuse my address again and send the letter to my parents instead of emailing me?

Current sophomore willing to answer any questions you guys want.

Also just to confirm results for US students come in the mail. And both deferrals(no rejection early) and acceptances come in regular letter sized mail. Acceptances are thicker though and theres a colored form, you can probably tell which is which before you open the letter.

@hoyasaxacc what day does georgetown usually mail them out?

Couldn’t tell you for early but I live in NY and got my results on like March 30 if that helps at all. I’m pretty sure the day they say the results will be released which is the 15th I think this year not really sure is the day they mail them out. So if you live far away you might get them a couple days later.

I’ve avoided posting for a while, and I know this is dumb (because really, what can other anonymous posters tell me?), but now I’m starting to freak out when I look at past test scores of admitted students and I could use a reality check, wherever it may come from. I know Georgetown says that they admit only “superior” students early, so is it unrealistic to expect an acceptance to SFS on the 15th with a 30 ACT and a 1400 CR + Math? Everything else is really strong- top 4% of my class, President of NHS, Editor-In-Chief of Newspaper staff of 22, President of 4h, state-dept. sponsored month in Africa, started both my own business and nonprofit that coordinates letters and cultural awareness between 5 different countries… I’ve also made it very clear that GU is my first choice AND i’m certain my recs were very good. Also, I’m a writer and was happy with my essays, though I can’t really be the judge of their quality. ANYWAYS, since most of you are probably as Hoya-crazed as I am, what do you think? Should I prepare for the worst, or am I not entirely delusional in thinking there’s hope for the likes of me? Thanks ahead.
