What are my chances? I know my rank isn’t great and that’s really important.

Georgetown doesn’t have ED, it has EA only. Your chances EA are same as for regular admission.

Okay, as the previous poster said, there is no ED, only EA. However, EA chances are smaller than for regular admission.

@BooBooBear @MrElonMusk, My mistake. I am new to the difference between the two and I mixed the terms up

Stats are pretty good, and all that service is definitely a good thing. Beyond that, it’s difficult to chance without knowing what school you intend to apply to. Like previous posters have said, EA is more difficult than RD at Georgetown, so it’s really important to show why Georgetown is the best fit for you and why you want to be at Georgetown.

@masquerade98 I plan on applying either Health Science or Georgetown College. I haven’t decided which would be best yet

You are a competitive applicant. Your stats and ECs are pretty good. Focus on what ECs matter to you most and narrow them down from there. You want to choose ECs that highlight your interests. Write great essays and you could get accepted to any of these schools

@emilykatem While I corrected you, also let me correct myself. I believe GU is restricted EA, that hybrid that says you cannot apply ED anywhere else while applying EA to them—sort of spin on the SCEA the Ivies use. You can still apply EA to other schools while applying EA to GU, just not binding ED. Go read the particulars on that, especially because GU reputedly does not give any “bump” for EA applicants so it may not be worth even considering it depending on your other choices.

Georgetown seems to be the only school with a lower EA admission rate than RD. This really befuddles me. Any explanations for this?

Simply admissions philosophy. I think they believe they would like more students to apply who were restricted ea Ivy and near Ivy to get into the pool and want more spots to come from this group. Also they don’t see a risk with so many deffered students. As they will to remain interested.

It’s a separate app than other schools and taking the time demonstrates intersect in off of itself.

And applying early shows a second level of interest. Combine the two their stats must show a high yield with these students.

So why not defer a large majority and see who else shows up. In the end if they take that student they have a high probability of saying yes.
