Georgetown Fall 2017 Transfer

Just got some different information: decisions will be released between 5-6 weeks from now.

yea June 15th sounds ridiculous .

Questions about transfer admission should be sent to this address transferadmissions@georgetown.edu

Hello, I’m an international transfer student and I’m admitted by Michigan yesterday. The ddl for Michigan enrollment deposit is May 1st and I’m wondering that can I pay the deposit and wait other schools’ decision? (other schools’ decision will probably come at early May)

Yes you can do this

@Robinyoursoul the waits still real on that. But better then june 15th right?

@phillysteak I called GW’s financial aid department and they told me to call the undergrad office close to the end of April, the guy I spoke to told me they would most likely give me a two week extension… which worries me…
Also, I called GU on Monday and they told me they’re aiming to have all decisions ready by June 1st… Why would they say 15 now what the heck…

Question, does paying the 800 and declaring our “attendance” to GW legally bind us? Cause I don’t mind paying the deposit before May 1st just to secure my spot. What I want is the ability to say “JK I’m going to Georgetown instead”. I dont care if I lose the 800 I just want to secure my spot in GW if I don’t get into GU.

@Gonzalo0927 97% sure that it doesn’t legally bind us. Someone should call. I need to know too

I’m going to call tomorrow and I’ll post what their answer is. I will pay the 800 for my spot as long as I can rescind my intent to go to GW if I get accepted to GU. This is so nerve wracking. First I was stressing about me getting into these schools, now its picking which one to go to. #firstworldproblems

laughed at your hastag. So true

Called GW, they told me we can pay the $800 deposit and still withdraw from the school if we need. The representative I talked to said “It has happened before where student have gotten off the wait list for their dream school and have withdrawn from GW after paying their deposit”
We just won’t get the money back but I wasn’t expecting to anyways.

Those pesky 16 year olds getting their decisions already. Damn them!

Kidding

@Gonzalo0927
Thanks for the information; i’ll put my deposit in when the time gets closer.

@lexluther96 @Robinyoursoul I think that if you’re an outstanding candidate, they will give you an acceptance. But I feel as if they will give you an admissions decision only if they really think that you deserve it. That’s what I would guess because its kind of common sense. Also, when you submitted your apps is also a considerably big factor. I think thats why some people get their decisions before the end of april. For me, I am applying next year but I am already obsessing over decisions, which is why I am currently working on my apps and dedicating my entire summer towards writing my essays for 13 schools.

@Gonzalo0927 I would pay and lose the money so that I have a chance at GU

@IvyLeague2 I spent several months working on my UC apps because I’m a CA resident UCs are suuuuper cheap, but then I spent maybe three months working on most of my private apps. I would have preferred to have submitted them earlier, but I didn’t get to it

Does anyone care to swap transfer essays over PM? I’m interested on what the rest of you said for the Georgetown essay - also want to see what I’m up against ;)!
Personal info can be marked out if need be - I don’t mind sharing mine.

I’m interested PM me your I will PM you mine @Robinyoursoul
