congrats @georgetown999999 ! Fall or Spring?
@mysticmama Wasn’t told explicitly, but since this is the first wave of waitlist acceptances, I’m assuming fall? Admissions officer just told me that they were “pleased to offer me a place in the class” and that I would be receiving official admissions letters via email and postal mail in the coming days.
@georgetown999999 Would you mind posting stats?
I emailed them to be pulled off the waitlist and I will apply again for my MA when the time comes. Congrats to those who are pulled off the waitlist!
if anyone hears anything about the wait-list, please let us know!
Can anyone chance me for Fall 2019 Transfer? I will be graduating NVCC with an AS in Science at the age of 18 this Spring, after only two semesters of CC. I applied to the NVCC Georgetown Preferred Candidate program, which I believe increases your change of acceptance to around 60%!
College:
GPA: 3.857 at NVCC, perhaps a 3.9 when I actually take classes at the college. 4.0 at GMU
Courses: Sci Research at GMU (DE), Bio 101+102 (DE), Eng 111+112 (DE), His 121+121 (DE), Phys 201+202 (DE), Calc 263-264 (used to be 173-174), Chem 111-112, Arabic 101-102, Intro to Communications 110, Intro to Islam 233 (I believe it is non western perspective), and Art history 101
Extracurriculars: Phi Theta Kappa, NSCS, Mu Alpha Theta, Pre Health Club, MSA, volunteer at the hospital and mosque, work part time as a certified pharmacy technician
High School:
GPA: around a 4.1 weighted
Top 25%, competive NOVA county and school
ACT: 27 (I’m going to take the SAT this year and shoot for 1300-1400)
APs: World History (4), Chemistry (no exam), Psychology (4), Biology (was AP/DE, so I didn’t take the exam), Calc AB (scores not out yet, maybe a 3 or 4), Comparative Government (scores not out yet, probably a 4 or 5)
Extracurriculars: Science National Honor Society officer/VP, Environmental Club VP, Interact club member (rotary club ties), National Honor Society member, Mu Alpha Theta member, Sisters in STEM member, Astronomy Club member, volunteer at the hospital and mosque
Awards: Board of Education seal on diploma (As in AP courses), Governors seal on diploma (Bs in AP courses), Outstanding Student in AP Chemistry, Excellence in hours served at the local hospital
I was really depressed during high school, and suffered through an eating disorder. Freshman and sophomore year I had a 3.8. I brought it up to a 4.1 ish by working hard junior and senior year. I was very active in science research, and was a lab “technician” for my AP Bio teacher and competed in the regional RSEF science fair. I have more potential than my high school stats say, in my opinion.
got off the wait-list two weeks ago for fall 2018 transfer
@unbalaced110 Congrats! It looks life so far it has only been used for Fall. Did you apply for fin aid?
So just wanted to let you all know… I emailed my transfer committee chair upon reading that people are being accepted off the waitlist and she told me that THEY HAVE NOT YET STARTED PULLING PEOPLE OFF THE WAITLIST. To quote directly, “we haven’t started moving to the waitlist yet”. Take that info for what you will
@georgetown12345 How did you find out who is your committee chair?
Lmao what @georgetown12345. I paid my deposit for SFS Fall 2018 last week having been accepted off of the waitlist.
Hmmmm. I just submitted my Letter of Continued interest today as a waitlist transfer. I am now realizing that even if admission is possible, the tuition for transfers is out of this world - little to no aid. @georgetown999999 and @unbalaced110 did u guys get good fin aid?
@CUACardinal24 it’s pretty standard for transfer students to get less financial aid across the board at colleges, specifically private.
@georgetown999999 when you agreed to be on the wait list, did you put down only fall or both fall and spring?
Did anyone receive an email today? About spring term or anything?
@FairyTale7 Maybe! My iCloud storage is full, and I haven’t upgraded it yet, which means I have not been getting emails for a few days.
Yea I got an email about my preference for spring/fall admission
I got the email as well.
Hey, what did you guys put???
1 – I prefer Fall 2018 transfer consideration
2 – I prefer Spring 2019 transfer consideration
I expressed my preference for Spring 2019.
