Georgetown Fin. Aid...Will they reconsider?

Has anyone had luck getting more aid from G'town? It's a dream school for our daughter, but affording it is near impossible with another child two years behind her. She has nearly a full ride from our state college, which she does not want to attend. She will get a decent package, I'm sure, from McGill.

You can always ask for a financial review. Are there any extenuating circumstances, that you feel they should have taken into consideration that they did not (it does not matter that she has a younger sister attending school). Your EFC for georgetown will go down once the 2nd child is in school (actually it will be redistributed between your 2 kids) netting more aid from Georgetown

Have you considered writing Georgetown and explaining it is your daughter’s first choice, but the great offer from state college is making it a very tough decision? Explain why it would be hard for you to turn down such a great aid package (e.g. low or no debt is very important to you and/or you’d be digging into non-replacable retirement funds for G’town, or any other special circumstances), talk about quality of what you’d be turning down, and ask if they will review the award to see if there’s more they can give. It should be a concise, strong argument, and you should attach a copy of the actual offer from state college. Be polite and be sure to acknowlege any aid G’town offered with acceptance. Just my $.02.

Probably not - or at least not in the amounts you are looking for.

thanks so much

Since GT, only gives need based FA (even their named scholarships are based on financial need), they are not going to care what you received at your state U in merit.

Unless the state U is Mich or UVA, GT probably probably not even going to consider them academic peers (which they would try to meet if there was a need based component).
