So, the title depicts what I usually get back from people when I tell them I'm a prospective bio maj and premed student wanting to go to Georgetown.

Is it really that crazy? I loved the feel, campus, environment, and LOCATION!!! of Georgetown. I'm borderline obsessed.

It's not the #1 school for bio majors or premeds but what do y'all think? Is it crazy to want to go here?

Just because a school is renown for a particular field of study does not mean that it cannot be strong in a variety of other majors.

Also who are the people you’re talking to? Actual biology professors, Georgetown students studying biology out chemistry, or just random people who likely have no idea about Georgetown other than that it’s an excellent school for those interested in government?

If you’re pre-med, when med schools look at your undergrad, they’ll only want to see a decent school.Your GPA/MCAT/LORs/EC’s/etc. will be more important.

Having said that, whether Georgetown’s science departments are the tippity-top best or not, they have to be pretty good, at least when compared to the other 3000 colleges in the US. US News ranks their Bio GRAD program @ #84, which is good when compared to thousands of colleges. For a PhD you’d prefer somewhere else, but since you’re going for undergrad, which is very standardized everywhere, it’s all good. So if you love Georgetown, feel like you’d thrive there, and it’s affordable (they do meet need, btw, run their net price calc & see what you get), then by all means go ahead. Good luck w/admissions :)
