I might go to Georgetown next year as a freshmen. Is it okay for premed/bio? Thanks!

I'm going there for the same thing. When I was deciding where to go I was tentative because I thought that Georgetown was strong just in international relations, but I learned that it does have strong sciences. I know some people in the program now and have spoken to several alumni and they all speak very highly of it. One of the things I like for premed is the fact that there is a hospital on campus, so you can volunteer there and they have different programs to kind of test out being a doctor. I'm sure you know that Georgetown is known for its internships and that applies to science majors too; one of the ones I was excited about is at the NIH but there are lots. If anyone that graduated from your school goes to Georgetown now, talk to them about their friends in premed. People say that it's hard, but it's hard everywhere.
Where are you currently enrolled? There are other things to consider besides academics too.

I am currently enrolled at UChicago, but I want to send my deposit to Gtown today. I visited UChicago, and the campus is nice, but I don't like it that it sounds so difficult and it's hard to get a high GPA. Plus I think I would like living in D.C. more. (but i know Gtown is hard too)
I don't think anyone that has graduated from my high school is attending or has attended Gtown before; I don't go to a great high school. Do you know if Gtown has any research opportunities or anything of the sort in the sciences? if they do, are they really hard to get into? Thanks for responding.

I'm a premed rising junior. Georgetown's good for premed but not bc of the resources. We're getting a new science center, but it'll prob only be there for your last yr or two. The faculty is pretty good..your first semester bio prof is a mofo, but the head of the dept (ellen henderson) is ridiculously nice. But the equipment does suck..most ppl who are seriously premed (i.e. not just 'thinking about it') get into top schools..plus gtown has an early admit program. Good luck!
