Why shouldn't you do an interview?

Because if I open my mouth, everyone knows that I am not smart. My mummie actually said that!! 'Darling, you should be just smiling and no talking in public.' Unbelievable... but if that's true, I should avoid talking to an alumnus.
Anyway, I googled the name of the chairman of my area. Looks like he's a newlywed! OVER THE MOON - New York Post
Also he lives nearby, only 20 blocks away.
Does an interviewer have a list of applicants he's going to interview and our personal info?

Well everything in life is about priority. I don't know how important is the interview but it's up to you to take 2 hours for an interview. I am too busy with school work, that's why I decided to apply for Spring 2008 instead so I understand what you mean when you say that you are too busy.

I think that some of them do.

How do you know that it takes 2 hours?
I'd rather go to a nice restaurant and make my interviewer drunk.

Has anyone made an appointment yet?

My interviewer still hasn't called me back. I'll probably call one more time on Monday, and see what's up. If not, I'm going to call the local rep.

Hmm.. I wonder whether they're informed of us. If yes, they should be ready to receive phone calls.

Yeah, I'll probably leave another message explaining that I am a transfer student. I just said I was calling about an alumni interview for Georgetown. We'll see, if not, like I said, I'll call the regional chair guy and tell him what's up.

Well when I used to have my interviews, they lasted 1 hr. The interviews came to my school. So the interview might take 1 hour if you are gpoing to meet the officer somewhere; if you add the time you take to get there it might be two hours. Nevertheless, it is up to you to choose if you want one or not no matter how long it will last

I have not been contacted for an interview. Wonderful.

I've been contacted! Kind of nervous/excited...this being hopefully my last undergraduate college interview.

good luck angeln. I hope that it goes well.

Yeah no interview here, despite the fact that I requested one and am even in Washington! I called admissions about it and they said "you should be receiving one within the next week", but that turned out not to be true. They don't respond to my emails either, so I am thinking that these are not good signs.

That sucks dude. I would assume they give interview opportunities to people who they don't think are totally interested in their school or to those who are on the border to see their personalities. I don't think strong candidates or weak candidates would need interviews. I don't know. This is just speculation. I don't know if I'm a strong candidate, and I haven't applied to Georgetown before. That's why I'm speculating.

Can you check the status of your application online?

Not yet, I think

interviews are not a good or bad sign. for example, if you've applied before, you won't likely be re-interviewed. or, if you're not in an area where there happens to be an available alumnus you'll likely not get an interview either. bottomline: don't sweat it.

i dont know about that. there are people in areas where there are clearly tons of gtown alums who havent gotten an interview. also since they require freshmen interviews...gtown clearly values interviews a lot and has a lot of alumni interviewers. i'm tempted to agree with sachmoney that no interview means you're either a really strong or really weak applicant.

and sachmoney (or anyone else)...does gtown have a site where we can eventually check our application status? i didnt think they had anything like that online...

Not sure if this helps the situation, but I consider myself to be a somewhat "borderline" candidate (my SAT's are lower than Georgetown's average) and I was offered an interview. Ironically enough, my interviewer lived an hour away, so the only way for me to do the interview was over the phone. It lasted only about a half an hour, but I think it went really well.

hey guys--

I am also applying as a transfer and have yet to be contacted for an interview. I am glad this thread is up as we are all in the same boat. I am curious if anyone knows what the REAL deal is with Georgetown's "extended waiting list" students who applied as freshman. There were only 50 on that list and Georgetown told me last year I (was on this list) would have "a very high chance of admittance", I have since heard this from others who were on the list but have heard from others gtown doesn't actually care??? Was anyone else on that lsit or does anyone know anything about this issue? Also what are everyone's stats? I am applying from NYU with a 3.4, slightly below Gtowns 3.7 average but I am hoping that this extended waiting list helps me lol
