I'm thinking of applying. Has anyone applied or is anyone thinking of applying? Does anyone know if there is any admissions advantage to applying for the spring vs. the fall? How does it compare to SFS's other programs (notably the Master of Foreign Service)? Anything else?

I just completed my undergrad in May and my career has not taken off as I'd hoped--a masters would give me a boost, and from what I've read the Security Studies program seems like a good one, though I'd like to hear anyone's first hand accounts.

Excellent professors (especially for counter-terrorism), fascinating classes, guest speakers from the DC DHS/IC/CIA community. The students take themselves a little too seriously though -- the men especially.

MSFS has more prestige but both programs are within the SFS and benefit from a lot of the same resources. SSP is probably the place to go for strict security studies compared to its peers.

Well, I just received an email today with a letter from the Director of the Security Studies Program letting me know that the Admissions Committee has recommended my admission to the Security Studies Program to the Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences...

After being accepted to George Washington University's Security Policy Studies program, does anyone have any thoughts on the pros and cons of each program. I will be starting school in January so I will have to decide here within a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the future comments hopefully :)
