I am majoring in finance and I really can't decide which school would be better, especially academically-wise. I am particularly interested in their curriculums. How good is MSB for finance?

NYU Stern > MSB. 'Nuff said.

(Tongue in cheek) Well, I can think of at least one guy who picked McDonough over Stern…the guy in charge of both: [Georgetown University](http://explore.georgetown.edu/news/?ID=2336)

i never thought about that…

Funny you have this dilemma, if I get into both NYU and Gtown (transfer for the college), I have no idea which I’d choose either. They’re both awesome schools obviously, but Stern is ranked higher. However, I’ve heard time and time again that it takes a very specific kind of person to love NYU. It’s not really a typical campus experience, there’s no real sense of unity. So I guess you have to look at your goals in college BESIDES academics, because you can’t really go wrong with either…are you looking for a true college experience, with football games and a strong community, or are you okay with skipping college and going straight into the real world?

i hope you get into both. i don’t even know what i really want because i could imagine myself at both places

db1991, I’m in the your exact same situation! I got accepted into Stern and MSB, and I also want to major either finance or accounting! Honestly at this point, I have no idea which one I would choose. I’m going to visit NYU and Georgetown this upcoming weekend though so I’m hoping that that will help me decide. Also, Georgetown hasn’t sent me their financial aid yet so depending on how much they offer me, I might lean towards one school more.
Based on rankings, Stern is ranked better than MSB in finance. Academically wise though, I really have no idea. However though Georgetown has a campus while NYU is just in the middle of the city. My brother who is at Stern has told me that it can sometimes feel very lonely. However he has been able to get good finance internships and he’s now having a blast studying abroad now in Europe. But I guess it all depends on the person, I know that I will have a hard time deciding between these two.

definitely stern, although the 2 schools have similar rankings, msb only offers a bs in business admin with a concentration and stern offers a bs in: accounting, actuarial science, economics, finance, business administration/management, marketing, information systems and international business (but only as a co-major), also i’m pretty sure stern has more connections for when you look for a job/internship (especially in the new york ares [ex. wall st.]) nyu also has many clubs and honor societies/fraternities especially ones directed toward business.

i really like that georgetown is investing in a new business school…that’s pretty reassuring. I am also thinking about all the future politicians to become friends with at g-town

Georgetown offers a BS in Finance, Accounting, Management, OPIM, Marketing, and International Business as majors, not concentrations.

To say NYU Stern is better than MSB is a blunt and naive statement… based on what? Just because Stern is in NYC, it doesn’t mean it has better placement. I would say its comparable (if you’re talking about Wall Street, also depends on firm)…

is stern really that hard to get into? It’s acceptance rate is a bit under 30% whereas GTown is a bit under 20%. GTown is in higher demand thus the market sees it as more desirable. The market has spoken!
