Which one should I choose?!

It all depends on what you want. Tell us more.

NOVA = Northern Virginia Community College?

I'm a completely undecided major. I'm interested in English, possibly communications, and music (on the side... i don't even know if i want to take classes in it).

I live in CT, so G'Town is a little further from home than I'd like but not THAT big of a deal. I love sports (both have good bball)...

My hesitation about Villanova is it's lack of diversity. My high school is basically a mecca of rich white and preppy people, which i don't mind at all because most of the people at my school are awesome, but i'm thinking maybe I should be exposing myself to something different.

My hesitation about Georgetown is that i'm not too interested in politics... which is pretty rare (i think) for that school.

Basically, I just want a place where I can be happy and learn a lot for 4 years

Oh Villanova lol.

I hope you understand Georgetown is just as preppy if not more so than Villanova.

Obviously visit both schools and really dive into the student life at both colleges. It might be weird but really hound the students for their opinions.

Yeah...Villanova is extremely preppy, but so is Georgetown. Philly's a much nicer city than DC and Villanova is situated in a beautiful main-line neighborhood.

ha, i thought you meant northern virginia community college too.
i very much disagree with the person who said philly is nicer than dc. sure, philly is full of history too but.. well, i don't feel safe there (and this is coming from a girl who lives in manhattan and whose dad went to a high school in dc where stabbings are quite regular). but that's mostly perception.
georgetown is ranked much more highly than villanova is. for me there'd be no choice there. student body-wise they seem pretty similar although i would expect that georgetown has more polisci/IR majors. if you dont want to always be surrounded by politics, i guess choose villanova.. but i feel that at georgetown (which is also in a very beautiful, upscale neighborhood) you'd be exposed to so many more diverse ideas and experiences and intellects than you would in philly.

I can't imagine picking Villanova over Georgetown.

It depends on what ur interested in Georgetown and Villanova r both 2 very good schools i know a girl in her first year at VIllanova and loves it but it depends on what you want to do

Georgetown. no doubt.

better in almost every possible major plus it has a great campus and its in the georgetown district of DC

O man... it sounds like everyone is as undecided as I am.....

Georgetown for sure.

Are you kidding? Its an elite school vs. one that is not so elite. Georgetown has the benefits of an elite school and everything that comes with it, i.e. recruiting, top network, grad placement, universal respect. Villanova has none of those benefits. I would pay full price at georgetown vs. free at villanova, the difference between these two is that great. I would say the end difference between Harvard and Georgetown is much less than the difference between Georgetown and Villanova.

I cannot imagine a student who has the opportunity to attend georgetown going to villanova without some amazing reason to do so, like being paid.

actually, if youre looking to stay in the philadelphia area, villanova would probably give you more connections there than georgetown.

In one city in the world it might be your advantage to go to Nova, and its arguable. Everywhere else on the planet Georgetown smokes Villanova. Also DC is the best city in the country in many people's opinions and not because of the politics.

slipper, D.C. is not as great as u make it out to be. My uncle and cousins have lived there for 15-20 years. It is not that great. In addition, Columbia is not as bad as you make it out to be. In addition, Cornell is not as bad as I make it out to be. Different ppl, different strokes. I think that D.C. is a nice city, but not nearly as the goldmine u make it out to be. It cannot compare with NYC, Boston, LA, Chicago, etc.

DC is much better than Philly. But forget the city, the SCHOOL georgetown is just so much better than villanova.

"In one city in the world it might be your advantage to go to Nova, and its arguable. Everywhere else on the planet Georgetown smokes Villanova. Also DC is the best city in the country in many people's opinions and not because of the politics."

uh, not really. nova has just as wide an alumni base in the northeast as georgetown.

also, DC really isnt a great college town at all, nor "the best city in the country in many people's opinions". not to mention that public transportation from gtown to downtown dc is kind of a drag.

DC and Philly are pretty comparable cities anyway.

its not as big a difference as you make it out to be.

Georgetown is in the "consideration set" at top firms and grad programs. I worked for a top comsulting firm and we never hire anyone from Villanova. They'd have to have over near a 4.0 and have ridiculous experience to even be looked at. Meanwhile we recruited from Gtown, and a 3.6 or higher was in consideration.

Georgetown gets recruitment visits from 3 out of the top 5 consulting firms, Villanova ZERO.

At Columbia MBA there are 26 Georgetown alums and 1 Villanova alum in the class. At Harvard law there are 33 Georgetown alums and ZERO Villanova alums in the class.

Pick your odds.

And I personally know many people who think DC is the best city in America. Adams Morgan and Georgetown are all lined with young people out every weekend night, there is practically a party on the streets. Not to mention a clean metro, great grassy spaces, many colleges in the area, and its beautiful and clean. Philly isn't bad but it isn't DC.
