Bball, Slipper did not say that DC was the best city in the US. He said that "in many people's opinion", it is. I personally think DC is one of the top 4 or 5 big cities in the US. Chicago is my favorite, closely followed by San Francisco and third would be either DC or Boston. I actually don't think too highly of NYC and LA.

Tim'sMonster, DC may not be a great college town, but M Street is a great backyard if you are a college student.

Anyway, the two schools really aren't comparable. Villanova is comparable to the University of Richmond, Trinity and Santa Clara.

um, Gtown is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Villanova, no question, i just noticed that you tend to say that DC is amazing, and i was curious where ur judgement comes from

As I mentioned before its absolutely young and the nightlife is packed into select areas, so on the weekends it always has a very festive feeling. I am the type of person who likes running into people and I like parties on the streets and a great energy. This is unlike NYC or LA where a popular club can be located next to a fish market. The city is incredibly well kept and the buildings are low, plus the grassy spaces so its beautiful walking around on a sunny afternoon unlike NYC where it always sort of smells and old shoddy buildings tower over you. You can literally live in a house near M street and feel like you are in suburbia, yet its exciting the minute you leave your front door. Finally, the people are nice and it seems like everyone in the city is educated, intelligent, and aware of the world. Clearly DC has its bad areas, but the Northwest quadrant is fantastic. Oh yeah and a 4-1 female to male ratio, which is great if you are a guy.

Stay out of Southeast (heh, should take my own advice) and DC is awesome. Living in Durham these past few months makes me appreciate it even more. Hmm, not too late for a transfer to Georgetown, is it? :p

I do have to mention that the traffic sucks like a vacuum though.
