Georgetown, NYU, Macaulay, and Cornell

Hi, I am a junior that goes to one of the most competitive public schools in NY. I really wan to get into a good school, but don't know where to begin. I have basically thought about NYU, Cornell the Macaulay Honors Program at CUNY and Georgetown, but other than that I have no clue (plus I am the first child). I understand that this is early on in the year (therefore my grades (including my SAT grades) will improve). Please Help me out and Chance me for these schools plus any other good ones in which you think I might be eligible for. Thanks

Stuy, Bronx, or Tech? You’ll get into NYU and Macaulay, no problem. Cornell is picky. You need a better SAT score.

Haha, not that competitive, but like 100th in the state

Some of your grades are dipping dangerously…I would really try to trend upwards, colleges love to see that. Likewise, I really think you need a higher SAT 2-part to be competitive at Macaulay.(Depends on the college you are applying to within it, of course). I would at least strive for a 1400-1450 to be really confident. Other than Macaulay, I would say Cornell is definitely a reach.
Can you please chance me back for macaulay?

Going to have to improve those junior year grades dramatically and that SAT score for Cornell, Georgetown, and NYU. A 2100+ would be great. If you’re finding the SAT a pain and not your test (like I did) also consider the ACT’s. A lot of people tend to do better on the ACT than the SAT. Your junior year grades are slipping like Tfwnogf^^ said. You have to raise those. College suggestion wise, do you have an idea of what you want to do in college?

I got an 800 on my sat2… that’s the highest one can get…

GT - High reach
NYU - High reach for Stern and low reach for the other programs.
Macaulay - Reach (You probably need a 1400/1600 to even be considered)
Cornell - Reach/ High reach (Acceptances are erratic)

But you’re only a junior, so there’s plenty of time to retake the SAT. Consider Questbridge partner schools, all of which are top-ranked (and offer exceptional financial aid). Here are other schools you may consider:
Binghamton, Geneseo, Stony, and Buffalo
UMich
Boston University and Boston College

Georgetown, Cornell and Macaulay are unrealistic with that SAT score. You need a mid 1400+ (critical reading and math) to have a shot at Cornell and Macaulay and a 2200+ to have a shot at georgetown.

I know quite a few people who have 2000-2100 SAT scores who have made it into Georgetown. However, all of them had pretty impressive extracurriculars.

I’m applying to Cornell, Georgetown, and Emory and I have a 2180 Sat and 4.35 gpa. I’m almost positive I’ll be accepted to at least Georgetown and Emory. I should also mention that I’m a swimmer and will be getting helped by the coach for admission.

My best suggestion to get into “top tier” schools: be an athlete. I know a couple kids who got accepted to Harvard with under 2000s on their Sats.

Georgetown: Reach
NYU: Reach
Macaulay CUNY: Reach
Cornell: Reach

Regular CUNY should be a safety, though.
