i really dont know what to do about this. i want to apply to the haas program if i go to cal but I am completely confused and have 0 idea as to which school is better.

Berkeley's Haas School of Business is ranked the third best in the nation. I've heard that there's some competition to get into the program, with roughly a fifty percent acceptance rate. Georgetown, nevertheless, is a great school if you're interested in business.

yea but lets assume i want to go to law school, does a georgetown degree necessarily have more prestige than a berkeley degree when applying to yale law for example?

i had my heart set on georgetown....up until last weekend when i visited cal for the first time. Cal, for me personally makes a lot more sense because I love the bay area, and i plan to major in buisiness/international relations. You have San Francisco to look for your internships and job opportunities. DC is amazing without a doubt, but obviously much more politically oriented. I hope to be a lobbyist, so I too plan on going to law school. A degree from Berkeley or Georgetown, to my knowledge, will carry the same weight when we apply to grad schools. I hope to go to Georgetown for grad school (it makes a lot more sense to get a buisness degree at cal and a law degree at gtown) and according to my friends at gtown...4 yrs in DC is great but 8 can definately get boring. The bay area, however, never gets old! So even if you do wind up going to grad school and undergrad at cal...you're set.
The decision between cal and gtown is definately a hard one. They are both amazing schools...but especially if you are a californian...why pay $45,000 a year for undergrad (and when you can get an equally as good of an education) when grad school is what matters?
Hope that helps!

UC Berkeley has been ranked #2 to #5 by international organizations in college rankings, so by no means is a Berkeley degree worthless. I know of four students at Berkeley who were accepted by Harvard Law (3) and Yale Law (1). So, no, I don't think a Georgetown degree will necessarily have more prestige when applying to law school.

I was actually in the same position as you last year. In the end I obviously chose to come to Berkeley. I came to Berkeley because I wanted to double in a biology and business. Although the competition to get into Haas is quite cutthroat, don't let that deter you from choosing Berkeley. Even if you don't get into the business program, there are many amzaing majors to choose from here.

Georgetown has the Early Assurance program allowing it's juniors to apply for Georgetown Law Center and get a GUARANTEED spot there without taking your LSATs.
