Georgetown or Notre Dame?

I recently was accepted to both schools EA. Technically, according to the US News ranking, ND is supposedly better than Gtown. However, “prestige” would tend to side with Georgetown. Money is not an issue at all, so there is no reason to consider that as a factor. I’m thinking of majoring in Political Science/Government and I know that would probably indicate I should go to Gtown. However, I’ve visited schools both now, and I get more of a family feeling at ND. Plus, ND is practically considered a cult. ND grads hire ND grads. I don’t know, any advice anyone?

Two of my schoolmates got in to georgetown, some major as you, they're happy and glad, go Georgetown!, ND is only few places higher than GT, got to go GT in this case.

They both good schools. Just go to the school that you'll feel more "at home" at. You're going to be there for four years. Take your pick - DC or South Bend.

I'm got accepted into ND and deferred at Georgetown, they made the decision for me ! But i felt the same way as you, i loved the at home feeling at ND, and i didnt want to leave when i was there. There is probably no way i will pick GU over ND even if i get accepted RD to GU

good luck

Shawn, do you have any specific reasons for Gtown other than your friends are happy to go there? Anyone else with advice...

if you are thinking about political science/government, georgetown. even if you don't end up majoring in it, you can still do internships or whatever in wash dc, which is a cool city.

are you liberal or conservative, that may play a big part in your choice. People at ND tend to be very conservative, while people at Georgetown tend to lean to the left. -Just a thought.

I tend to be conservative. I know this will sound horrible, but I kind of like my current situation of being surrounded by predominately upper class catholics, and I think ND will be more like that than Gtown. I think I'm starting to lean towards ND...

Your only conservative because you've been brain-washed. But seriously though, maybe it would be good for you to move out of your comfort zone where you are surrounded wealthy Catholics. Or maybe ND is a great fit..

I was accepted to Georgetown EA. I live 20 minutes from DC, my dad works at the Georgetown Hospital, and my brother goes to Georgetown so I have a very good idea of what the school is like. The school is mostly comprised of upper class catholics and jews actually and the surrounding area is one of the best in the nation. My brother could come home every weekend yet he only comes home every month or two months for a day or two. That gives me a good idea that Georgetown is good enough to call home. Georgetown is also known for its government and international relations majors so if I were you I would go to Georgetown. If you do feel more comfortable at ND then by all means go there.

russ, I am not conservative because I have been brainwashed, I could say the same about those who are liberal. They are being brainwashed by a liberal media. Gtown vs. ND is turning out to be a tough decision...

Up to the top

Are you religious at all?

I'm catholic, and attend church quite often.

Georgetown is not liberal, pleeeasse... Who are you blindc1rca, what do you know, you just probably make that up from something you read.

hey torn, can you list all of your stats please?

I applied to Gtown and ND EA (admitted to both), Yale RD, Northwestern RD, UIUC (accepted), and UMich (accepted).

Any other advice on Gtown or ND...

Torn, im in the exact same position. I was EA admitted to Gtown, and will probably get in ND during regular. I am "torn" lol between the two. The only real positive about Gtown is the government program, but I just think ND would be such a great place. Plus my entire extended family all went to ND and are psycho loyal alumni.

Yea minus the gov program ND is better in every single way (for me). I think I'm going to chose ND!

to the top, any other opinions?
