I’m currently trying to choose between 2 schools: Georgetown and U of Pitt.
Here are a couple considerations I have in mind:
1.) Georgetown is much much more expensive. I received about half tuition, but that still means I have to pay about $35,000 per year. As for Pitt, I received full tuition, so I would essentially have no debt post-graduation.
2.) I am going as bio/pre-med track for both schools.
3.) I am interested in doing research, but I’m not sure where I could potentially get more opportunities.
4.) I was admitted into the Honors College at Pitt, however not I’m not sure if that affects more opportunities or a more competitive edge when applying to med school.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT!

Not sure which school is better for "getting people into med school."

Colleges don’t “get people into med school.”
getting into med school has to do with how YOU perform…high GPA, strong MCAT, medically-related ECs, etc.
Both are fine.
If you can get out of UPitt w/o any debt, then go there.
Seriously that’s a no brainer unless you have some huge aversion to an urban campus.
Pitt has a major medical center right on campus and several more within walking distance. It consistently ranks in the top 10 (I’ve heard even in the top 5 but I can’t find the link right now) for NIH research funding.
Add a full tuition scholarship to the picture and IMO it’s an easy decision.
I’ve heard that the most research is for grad students at Pitt… Should I be worried about that?
@17ahuf9 --you should go over to the Pitt forum and ask there. There are still lots of parents there with current students and maybe they can help you out?
@carachel2 thanks! will do

Why not contact the HC and ask about research opps?
Undergrads interested in research typically ask their profs if they can help them with their research.
