Georgetown or Tufts?

I'm having trouble deciding between the two...here are the pros and cons that don't cancel each other out:

Tufts cons:
-colder
-less prestigious
-location is less interesting than Georgetown (Medford, that is)

Georgetown cons:
-Catholic (I don't really like religious overtones at schools)
-D.C. isn't as cool/interesting as Boston, overall

perspective (I could be wrong, please tell me if you think I am [I WANT to be told if I'm right or wrong in my assumptions]):

Georgetown's kids seem nicer, I get the impression that Tufts kids are kind of rude (as a general populus).
Georgetown's kids seem preppier whereas Tufts kids are more into indie/artsy kind of stuff, and I prefer the latter.
Tufts isn't big on parties, and has a pretty quiet social scene.
Tufts/Boston has a better music scene
Tufts is really quiet on weekends and not a whole lot is going on; not many people wandering around campus. (this is bad)
Georgetown has something of a goody-goody atmosphere to it, and isn't very relaxed.
Tufts kids are also rather uptight, but not very goody-goody.
Tufts doesn't have too much school spirit or rah-rah let's go watch football in the freezing rain (this is a good thing)
Tufts is a hook-up school, not many people date. (bad)
Georgetown just isn't very sexually inclined at all. (worse)
Tufts kids aren't sure if they are happy there or not.

Georgetown, but then again I hated tufts when I visited it and absolutely adored Georgetown

What will be your program of study?

Faculty of Arts and Languages: Japanese at Georgetown, nothing in particular at Tufts. I might not necessarily make Japanese my major though. Chances are I'll major in philosophy if I can't find something I really want to major in. I'm considering film/journalism/multimedia sort of stuff though, which is why (to be honest) I'm really hoping I get off the waitlist at Columbia...

Tufts isn't really near Boston. It's in Medford. A friend's father I know who went to Tufts said he didn't really like it because there was always "something better" off campus (which explains why you didn't see people on campus on the weekend).

As for your generalizations...
I thought Georgetown was pretty relaxed when I visited. And the only really big sports, I think, are basketball and lacrosse, which are indoors and in nice weather, but you're right about the lack of school spirit at Tufts.

uhhhh Medford is part of the Boston subway system, it's like a 15-20 minute ride to the heart of Boston, with Harvard and MIT on the way....so I'd say that's pretty close :P

no one is talking about the music...is there a good music scene at Georgetown??

There's the 9:30 Club, which has good stuff sometimes. They had Belle & Sebastian, the New Pornographers, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Rufus Wainwright...and a few other good ones. (that is just this year, by the way)

I'm not quite sure what kind of music you like though...so...

Also, the time of year/day you visit definitely will impact the perception you get in the school..during the winter everything seems intense/upright, but springtime on Healy Beach is unbeatable! (well, as far as not actually having a beach goes...)

Is it possible to not like the New Pornographers?

personally georgetown hands down..for all of the information youve listed i cant see why you wudnt choose it. But then again, thats my opinion going on my likes/dislikes etc.

i have to say though, with regards to the music scene...when i went for the GAAP weekend i was really surprised when i saw all these preppy guys who looked like they just walked out of a j-crew catalogue blasting "T.I-what you know about that" in their car. Was expecting something like the Backstreet boys

Is it possible to not like the New Pornographers?

Yup.
