Just thought I would start a discussion thread for Georgetown University regular decision class of 2022. I have applied rd, and I know that the admission decisions are coming out soon.
Does anyone know the exact date of the admission decision?
They mailed out decisions last year on March 24th (according to their Twitter) so anytime between there and April 1st. It depends on where you live, honestly.
I think i saw that a lot of people got them on the 27. I applied EA and got mine 3 days after they mailed. It’s a pain to wait for, but got i USPS and saw i got deferred during school. Looking forward to seeing rd decisions though
I was also deferred EA but I’m in the midwest so it took the letter FOREVER to get here. I’m wondering if anyone knows about the difference in postage if you’re accepted, denied, or waitlisted. I know my deferred letter was 47 cents or something and accepted was maybe 49 cents (i may be off) but it was nice to know before I opened the letter. if anyone knows please lmk!
I also would love to know the different postage amounts for acceptance and denial.
Will Georgetown inform applicants that the decisions have been mailed? My D does not have informed delivery, and honestly, I don’t want her to find out like that. I’d rather her get her letter at home.
I guess postage would be the same situation. $0.47 is bad news. I was deferred EA. It took 4 days to get my letter in MA. Way too painfully long. I didn’t let anyone else touch the mail for a week. Hopefully I’ll get good news this time.
Based on last years Thread: Acceptances had .67 postage and had a “blue” look to them. Apparently the stationary is blue. Waitlist and denial have the same postage .47. Financial aid letter comes separately and has .47 postage. So you could get that letter first or at the same time as the decision letter.
See the note on the other RD Thread about increases in postage rates. My post above was based on last years info. If rates have gone up, the “magic” postage number likely will too.
@VAMom23 Yep, the deposit and confirmation to enroll form is blue. If you get two envelopes from Georgetown, it probably means acceptance. I saw the financial aid envelope first and since it was 0.47 I thought I got waitlisted until I saw the 0.67 letter below… almost gave me a heart attack!
@NYcollege2022 for EA we were focusing in the postage. $0.47 was a single piece of paper deferral. $0.67 was an acceptance with an extra yellow or blue piece of paper. Speculating about RD but others seem to feel it is similar. Fingers crossed for a heavier letter!!
My USPS Informed Delivery has a letter incoming from D.C. Anyone else see the same thing? I also applied to American University, so this could be a false alarm.
Someone posted that letters will be mailed on 3/23. Georgetown is off on Wed 3/28 and they don’t start classes again until Tues 4/2, so one could assume they want letters in hands before they leave for Easter break. 3/23 would leave 3 business days.
D is waiting to hear from 8 more, she was rejected by Wharton but accepted by WashU Olin which is a huge gift from God. She is still neverous about hearing from Georgetown since she had a summer camp there and she LOVED the campus!
