Did anyone already receive financial aid info?
Did anyone see the acceptance rate on the acceptance letter? Nearly 23,000 applied for 1,600 spots, making the rate 6.9/7% this year! It’s definitely an all time low. I can only imagine what the Ivies’ drops with be this year.
I believe their numbers are as follows: 23000 applicants, historically offer acceptance to 3300 applicants for around 1600 spots. Thus making their acceptance rate around 14%. This is a bit lower than their 2017 acceptance rate of 15.4%. All competitive schools are trending as such. I am also seeing many cases wherein top tier students (1-3%) get into a highly selective school, but wait listed in a lower ranked school (based on US News) as evident by few on this thread that have gotten into NW but not in G-town. Like I said, its a tough, subjective, and to an extent demographic based selection. Real world doesn’t offer employment by merely viewing a resume or an application, it interviews. With-out doing such, these admission selections don’t always make sense and are often not indicative of the applicant’s accomplishments. May all make the best of where they end up, and crush it life and chosen careers.
Two years ago, our older son applied ED to his first choice school, and got in. I was elated, of course, but also felt like we “missed out” on part of the process - the exciting flurry of acceptance/rejections in late March.
@ardnas1999 never is it a smart move to use Georgetown as a “backup”. The acceptance rate was 6.9% this year. Basing qualification for schools on standardized test scores totally defeats the holistic process of evaluation
