How do you know if SFS is right for you? I really want to major in IR, but I'm afraid at some point I'll hate it and be stuck in SFS (assuming I get in of course)

Is it harder to get into SFS or is that just a rumor?

There does not seem to be a large difference between admissions rates for the College and the SFS.

Below, there is a link to a chart for early action and one for overall admissions. As per the overall chart, SFS admits average 20 points higher on the SAT CR and have the same SAT Math range. The SFS admit rate is higher, at 20.5% (College: 18.1%). Of course, admission to one might be easier for a particular person, as they look for different things (to get an idea, see the essays). If you were admitted into the SFS and did not like it, you could attempt an internal transfer, though I am unsure of how common/easy these are.

^To add on to what Billy said, the SFS pool is much more self-selecting than that of the College, resulting in the (marginally) higher acceptance rate. Everyone that puts ‘undecided’ on their application is automatically sent to the College for review.

From what I’m told, College to SFS transfers are the most common, but SFS to College won’t raise any eyebrows. As long as you have a certain GPA and are able to meet general education requirements, it isn’t a big hassle.
