Georgetown SFS vs. Tufts IR vs. UPenn CAS/IR

I was lucky enough to be accepted into these great schools, but I am stuck.

Penn is great for everything, and it has alot of placement/opportunities in all fields; however, I am really keen on studying international relations, and I'm not sure if it would help me as much as SFS/Tufts. I really love Penn, and would love to just go there, but I don't want to be making a rash decision.

Tufts and Georgetown SFS are consistently ranked top ten for IR. Penn is not on such rankings, not that the lists really matter, but I just want to know whether it would be hurting me (or not helping me as much) if I choose Penn CAS (College of Arts and Sciences) and study IR there over Tufts/Gtown IR. Which should I choose? I know I would be happier at Penn, but which would be better for me academically?

THANK YOU for any/all advice. It is greatly appreciated, esp. with such a huge decision.

If you know that you’d be happier at UPenn, then I’d go there. I would agree that SFS/Tufts do have better IR programs than Penn, and they probably would give you a leg-up on jobs and internships, but Penn still has a good program, so if you know that you’d fit in better there, then go for it!

Thanks! I just dont wanna be making the wrong decision… if there is a SIGnificant advantage in tufts/gt, then I would feel dumb for choosing penn… ahh. Penn would let me take classes at the law school, its reallly great for research, and has wharton business school, which is number 1 for business… and i could take like int’l finance/trade there, which I thought might justify penn over tufts/gt??

Personally, if I wanted to study IR and had the chance to go to the school with a former Secretary of State, CIA Director, US AID Director, Prime Minister of Spain, UN Ambassador and President of Poland, leading classes, I would not turn that down. Where else on planet earth would you have the chance to get this kind of first hand exposure and knowledge from people who have been real players on the world scene?
And have you ever compared Philadelphia to Washington? Washington, is only 30 miles from Baltimore meaning you are able to see two teams in all the major league sports. The Philadlephia Art Museum has Rocky’s footprints but it ain’t the Smithsonian with its eight or nine museum complex. Just consider.
