Georgetown Short Essay

<p>For the short essay:</p>

<p>"In the space available discuss the significance to you of the school or summer activity in which you have been most involved."</p>

<p>Why won't they let us write about sports outside of school, volunteer, etc.?
The only activities I'm involved in at school are marching band (4 years) and American Caner Society Club (4 years). I feel like I'm not extremely involved in them though.
I was also on the school's cheer squad since my freshmen year and eventually co-captain my junior year, but I quit and went into competitive cheer. My competitive cheer squad had an amazing season and were awarded 1st at many competitions and got 1st in all of United States for level 2 small senior. (yea, only level 2 but level 2 has the most teams in its category)
Competitive cheer is not part of school though. The only other significant things I have are I volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Drive Center (only this summer), volunteered at Friends of Children with Special Needs (only this summer), am CEO of Tri-City Band Corps (nonprofit organization run by high schoolers not part of school), and was a student Medical Assistant at Kaiser for 6 weeks (during school).</p>

<p>Other ECs:
volunteered at homeless shelter for a summer
volunteered to teach children abacus for a summer
been a self-employed tutor since 9th grade
worked at a daycare for half a year
work as a receptionist for an art class studio for 20 hours a week (its just for the money)
went to United States Naval Academy summer seminar
member of Medical Explorers for a year</p>

<p>BTW, I want to major in nursing.</p>

<p>What should I write about? What are you guys writing about?</p>

<p>Am I taking the prompt too seriously? I feel like it's important to follow directions though. Help?</p>

<p>It sounds to me like you can write about sports outside or school, volunteering–really anything. They just don’t want someone writing about a class or something.</p>

<p>yeah, write about volunteer work, sports that you involved yourself in during summer.</p>
