What's g-town's social life like?

Social life at Georgetown is great. There are so many things to do, you might have trouble to decide.

If you're into the partying, you won't be disappointed. Parties, in general, begin on Thursday nights. You walk by the back of Village A on Canal Road and you can always see a party going on in a suite. Go on the Village A rooftops, and you'll see lots of people hanging out, etc. Village B also has a good number of parties, and Henle. According to a survey done sometime around last year, about 70% of Gtown students drink alcohol. That doesn't mean that you'll see people walking around vomiting, etc. Beer is typically the easiest alcohol to get, b/c it's always at parties, and it's cheaper to get. Besides the upper class dorms, you'll always find a group of people in freshman dorms that just hang out and have whatever(even though it's not allowed, but realistically, we know how that works, lol). Lots of people also go out to clubs, bars, etc. The Georgetown area of DC is honestly THE BEST college town. So many restaurants, bars, whatever you want. Everyone should go to the Tombs, of course. It has that "college-y" atmosphere, and they sometimes host various campus groups for parties and other events. You don't need to travel far from campus to find things to do.

Georgetown also holds various balls, shows, etc. on campus. Mask and Bauble Dramatic society puts on various shows throughout the year, as do the Nomadic Theater and Black Movements Dance Company(i might be forgetting others). Groove Theory is arguably the best college hip hop dance team in the country(they're raising money to go to the national competition). They performed(along with Ritmo y Sabor, the latin dance group, solo performances, the Hoya Break Squad, and other performances at Urban Fare, a huge event on campus that basically packed Gaston Hall, and had people from other schools in the area and other states). The a cappela groups also performed at the Cherry Tree Massacre, another basically sold out event on campus. There's the Diplomatic Ball, and other balls as well. The College had a semiformal Casino Night earlier in the year.

Another important part of Hoya life is clubs/organizations. Most people are involved in at least one club or organization. Whenever you walk through Red Square, you'll always see tables with some group advertising, handing out flyers, playing music, etc. If you look on the ground in Red Square, you'll always see some information from some group chalked on the ground. Joining clubs is a great way to meet new people, and it also opens you up to various events, parties, etc. Clubs frequently have parties, etc. on and off campus. And of course, it helps pad our resume while having fun, lol.

So in general, during the weekend, you'll always see people going to parties/clubs, and the majority of students drink. However, if you don't, don't let that affect you. People honestly won't force you to drink, or do anything that you don't want to do. At parties, there'll always be non-alcoholic drinks for those that don't drink alcohol. There're so many things to do on the Hilltop that you'll want to do them all.
