Georgetown, Stanford, UofM, Yale

I was just wondering my chances at these schools. I realize Yale and even Stanford may be way out there, but with University of Michigan as a backup, (where I've been accepted) I figured why not just go for it. I'd really love to go to Georgetown, and think I have a shot. Any insight would be very helpful.

This may be a lot of info, but I just copied and pasted activites and volunteer info from the resume I gave to teachers writing letters of rec for me, so just skip the extras if you get bored.

BASIC INFO
1550 SAT (790 m 760 v)
33 ACT
National Merit Scholarship (Currently a semifinalists, finalists are announced in Feb. but they take most of the semis and my score was highest out of 7 other semifinalists in school so i think i should be a finalist)
4.0 in class, top of class (450 students) but tied with many others
7 APs, taking 5 during my senior year
SAT IIs
760 - writing
700 - U.S. History
670 - Math **
I realize these SAT IIs arn't so great. Anyone have any info on how much these are considered or how these rank at the schools I've listed? I've also retaken math and am waiting on the new score.

thanks to anyone who can help out with some info.

if georgetown is your number 1 choice, don't worry, you will very likely get in.

It is my #1 choice, and thanks, I hope you're right.

Anyone have any info about the SAT II stuff I posted?

I don't see the rigor of your curriculum, your GPA, or your class rank. Because Georgetown places such a tremendous weight on the transcript, I find it difficult to make judgements on your chances without seeing more information about your secondary school work.

Joey

Yeah I think you'll get into Georgetown. Does depend to some extent on the difficulty of your curriculum and how many APs you have taken however.

I apologize ... I missed your GPA and class rank in your rather long list of testing :-p. However, rigor of courses is still extremely important. It's usually not a good sign if you're tied for first with many students in your class, because class rank is then taken less seriously as opposed to if you were ranked on your own.

Now, if you have a nice number of AP classes, and if your recs say that you love learning (and it should be that way, since you have such high SAT I scores and you are at the top of your class), I believe you should be admitted to Georgetown. However, nothing is guaranteed.

Good luck with the rest of your colleges!

Joey

Thanks this info is all helpful. Still waiting to hear how the SAT IIs are weighted compared to other criteria...

wow your SAT II scores are almost identical to mine

don't worry too much...I think you have a great shot at Georgetown

thanks, if it wasn't for those IIs id be feeling much better.
