What kind of clothing brands do Georgetown students wear? Is Hollister out by college?

I think the more important question is was Hollister ever cool?

I know Gtown's town itself is stock full of top-name designer brands like Lacoste, Coach, United Colors of Benetton, so I would assume everyone wears pretty nice clothes...not saying Hollister isn't really nice either :P

I would avoid the ultra preppy looks tho that Abercrombie/Hollister are known to be, and would encourage more sophisticated, "expensive" looking clothes

Abercrombie was never preppy... not true preppy like RL, they were just fake beachy wannabees... yeah Abercrombie is def not in...

sophisticated clothing is a plus, but honestly most people just wear tees... see a lot of Georgetown tees... various organization tees... and yes a lot of lacoste, ralph lauren... coach (for girls)

yeah from everything i've seen, lacoste and ralph lauren are very popular, among other expensive labels. it doesnt mean you absolutely have to wear them though

Guys.
It really doesn't matter. It's college. You can wear whatever you want. You can go to class naked if you wanted, and it'd be cool. Seriously, try it.
No, but really, despite Georgetown's reputation for being a hella preppy school, it's only a big deal if you make it a big deal. And I recommend you don't.

It's not a big deal at all... like I said a lot of tees and shorts and jeans...

and please don't go to class naked... it would be just weird... but funny...

polo, brooks brothers, vineyard vines, etc etc... preppy brands like those most likely

Good god, this thread is disgusting.

I always get the impression that Abercombie is for people who think they're rich because they've never met REALLY rich people.

When I visited Gtown I saw a lot of the JCrew type outfits....not Abercrombie at all....but I also saw a lot of Bohemian type outfits on girls...a more eclectic look, and the sweatpants look as well..Most students did seem to have a more professional "rich" look, so I would dress up to class a bit if I was a student there (but by no means can I afford JCrew)

Stop.
This thread is so superficial and annoying. No one who actually GOES to Georgetown cares!
The mentality that you guys had when you visited at hs students won't be the same when you actually go there as a student. Or at least I hope not.
Regardless, this is boring. And it makes Georgetown students seem so shallow, which they aren't.

stabs eyes out repeatedly.

Yeah, some people wear those brands, but definitely not everyone. I've gone through 3 years of fitting in at Georgetown wearing clothes mostly from places like GAP and AE. Don't go out and buy a whole new "preppy" and expensive wardrobe or anything. The vast majority of people dress casually, especially on weekdays (unless they have an internship to dress up for), in sweats, hoodies, jeans, organization tshirts, sweaters, etc. You DON'T have to dress up for class!

And yes, a lot of people DO wear clothes from Abercrombie, AE, and Hollister.

uh yeah, people wear whatever they want at Georgetown. Do not dress up for class. You'll get made fun of. And honestly, with the amount of time you'll be spending studying and trying to at least have fun some of the time, you won't have time to think about who's wearing what and to dress up before your 8:50am class. Not everyone wears expensive clothing. Gtown isn't as preppy as you think. People wear t shirts, shorts, sweats, polos, whatever you want. I personally have some AE and Abercrombie. Who cares if others wear RL or lacoste?? And no, most don't have a "professional rich look". Wear what you want, be yourself, and realize that there's more to Gtown than what you think people should look like.
