Georgetown Summer Programs for High School Students

i realize this is pretty old, but I’m about to do this program (leave tomorrow, actually) and was wondering more about leaving the campus. For lunch and things like that, can we go off campus to eat (I know you said you went to m street for chipotle)? Also, is there a lights out/curfew type thing? Thanks, if anyone happens to see this w/i the next 22.5 hours.

Daughter is just finishing this week’s program (International Relations) and will be staying for next week’s (American Politics and Policy - that’s what you’re doing, correct?). Even though she was marginally less interested in International Relations than what she’ll be doing next week, she reports that the program is “a 9 out of 10”, and is loving it.

As to your question about leaving the campus, I think that’s more an issue of how tightly you are scheduled than whether you are permitted to leave (you are also, I believe, required to pay for a meal plan, which daughter says is excellent, so there’s also the issue of paying a restaurant for a lunch you’ve already paid for the in the school cafeteria). The only issue my daughter has had is that every day is packed so full of activities that there is very little more downtime. As the person writing the check, my view is that she can have downtime when she gets home, and I’m thrilled at the value we’re getting from the program.

As for curfew, I don’t think there is, but my understanding is that it’s because the kids are staying up til all hours BS-ing, NOT b/c they’re going out.

Bottom line is that you’re in for a great week.

For all who have yet to complete their week at Georgetown, you will have the best time of your life.
I recently got back home from my program and it was honestly the best week of my life.
You are allowed to leave campus whenever as long as you are back in time for your lectures, labs, etc. At night, we often went to M street just to people watch and sometimes shop. The Residence Life people had night time activities, but those weren’t mandatory, so often times people didn’t go to them.
Curfew is 11 on weeknights, so that means you have to be on your floor (unless your RA is slack). 12 am is when you have to be in your room. again, if your RA is slack then it may be later.
Leo’s is pretty good. If you don’t like anything on the main floor, the bottom floor has burgers and fries, pizza, etc.
Dress is casual most of the time. A lot of people liked to dress up for the last day, but it is totally up to you!

Give your staff a huge hug at the end of the week! They worked extremely hard to ensure you have a good time!

I know this post is almost a year old, sorry, but I’ll be attending the Summer Honors Intensive program, for five weeks from mid-July to mid-August, taking International Relations and US Political Systems courses for credit. Did anyone take this program, or Summer College? Also, I’m a rising senior.

Does anyone have any experience with the Medical Institute summer program for high school students?! Thanks!

Anyone reply to you on the Medical Institute programs @ Georgetown University?

Anyone taking Fundamentals this summer?
