The rest of the letters should reach the remainder of us soon, unless we are last; if we are last all of them should be mailed out on the 20th.

My friend learned he was accepted to the SFS about a week ago. So apparently at least one SFS is out.

As I said previously, I do not think they are sending letters out by department, but rather by the order in which they are reviewed.

Georgetown also performs committee decisions, so a few applicants who are on the borderline may be saved for last.

so you think that the date of application submission determines when we recieve our responses?

No, I cannot even begin to fathom the order in which colleges review applications, and I do not know where such a claim is implied in my previous post. It is best, and perhaps most accurate, to say that the order of review is arbitrary.

i think i read on one of your previous posts that you expect an acceptance from georgetown. if that's correct, do you still feel that way

Expect acceptance? I wonder where I mentioned that and, if I did, I would retract such a statement. I do not think I ever expected to get into Georgetown; I hope I do, but I have very strong doubts.

Maybe they review our applications by our pictures. That MUST be it! ;)

LOL Nikkki :)

Then they would not start with you, nikki:P

Ia mju stjo king:)

You're fired!

I don't know man...

I contacted my interviewer and he said that there is still time to do an interview on the 15th!!!

Man...I at least hope I am one of those borderline folks

Well, it is not a definitive statement. I only inferred that all decisions would be rendered on the 20th, because I was instructed that it would be too late to send my final grades, which are released on the 20th, to them. This inference was further substantiated by them saying that since they wish to have all decisions known to us by June 1st, they will likely mail them out on the 20th (or the week of the 20th, I cannot remember my conversation that well).

Good Luck!

Quick question:

Someone in the Transfer Forum said that 200 out of the 1450 applicants have been chosen. Now is that something that is actually written on the admissions letter? And if all decisions have yet to be rendered, how could such a statement be made? Or is it simply a matter of space where they have 200 possible openings and thats the number that will be filled regardless?

Thats about a 15% acceptance rate :(

I was told it would be around 22-30%. 22 sounds alot better than 15.

Ah well...I think we all still have a shot.

Illmatt,

I believe the letters said 200 slots. So 21% or so will probably be accepted, but of those 21%, Georgetown probably estimates that only 13% will enroll. Get it?

How many slots they actually have is dependent on zoning laws and so forth. I am not sure if they are limited to accepting 200 applicants or if they are merely limited to 200 spaces.

Right. But I thought the accepted to admit ratio is created by some fancy algorithm or something Where they accept X+Y students for X amount of slots.

doesn't every school over enroll in the off chance people will turn down their acceptance...maybe not Harvard and Yale or any school with very limited space to begin with, but I know the UCs accept more than they have space for and from the wording of the acceptance letter I received from Georgetown it seems that they accept more than the 200 as well. If it was simply 200 wouldn't they say something along the lines of congrats, you're one of only 200 students who has been offered admission (of course they wouldn't say it like that).

even Harvard expects 20% of students accepted to not enroll, so yes

masta,

I am not refuting matm1's claim, I am just opining that it is not necesssarily the case.

Annie,

I do not know if that is true; after all, all Harvard acceptees enrolled last year.
