Georgetown Transfer Decisions

yea I know...I could be reading way too into the letter and they might only accept 200 and they might have less room for transfers this year when compared to past years because less people left or whatever the reason may be...so my conclusion is just speculation anyway

I can't speak for 2004, but in 2003, out of the 1431 transfer applications, 433 were accepted, and 261 enrolled. Those numbers, the 1400 something and the 200 something appear to be quite close to this year.

Right. If i had to bet, I would bet that 200 is the number of slots, but they will accept about 300.

I hope you all are right:D

im applying to georgetown 2...i just got back my second semester grades, i was wondering if i should send them or it's 2 late? thanks

i don't think they want your second semester grades unless they tell you. if they tell you they want them that means that you are borderline and if you're borderline and have good second semester grades than that's probably a good thing

I was accepted as a second year transfer and need to know how much the second semester GPA on the transfer needs to drop to pose a problem. My first semester GPA was about a 3.7, and I received my acceptance at the beginning of May (suggesting I was not a borderline acceptance). My second semester GPA should be equal or higher than my first, but there is a chance that it wont be, so I am wondering how much of a drop you guys all think would pose a problem.

Thanks,
Hank

I think that's an assumption and generalization on your part!

Why hasn't anyone been rejected?!??!

I have shared much of everyone's frustration for the past few weeks and I have been looking at these boards to try and get an idea as to what my prospects were. I figured I would post so that you guys would know that acceptance letters are out there and what the basic stats were of an accepted person.
I am a 26 yr old white male with extensive intelligence background with the US Marines (7 yrs with many leadership positions), spent one year as a consultant with Lockheed Martin/MARCORSYSCOM on a very highly classified program. I had a 3.9 GPA from a very crappy state university in Mass. I was a double major in Poli Sci and Econ, ranked #1 in both. I was 32 out of 1,684 in my class, on Student Senate, various other BS type community service things. I had extremely strong recommendations from the Chancellor of the school, two professors, a community leader and the Regimental XO of the 25th Marines. I took very challenging courses, sticking as close to the SFS curriculum as possible and have been in Egypt studying Arabic for the past 4.5 months or so. I had excellent essays that were well tailored to SFS mission statement, ect. Some solace for the rest of you. My high school transcript is an abortion (something like a 2.1 GPA or something with a strong downward trend, I almost didn't graduate) and my SAT's from high school were 1340. However in an attempt to make myself more competitive for Harvard (where I am also seeking admission), I took the SAT's again in Jan here in Egypt.
To make an exhaustively painful story, replete with misunderstandings and unbelievably bad luck, short. I ended up getting an 1180 on that test. I was asleep during most of it (truly too long of a story to tell here) as I didn’t sleep the night before and I was a little hung over. I couldn't stop the SAT's from being sent out and I wasn’t able to talk with any admissions officers, so there was never an explanation given to them for such a poor score. The moral of this story for everyone out there is, apparently SAT's don't matter too much.
I was however, rejected from the RUE program at Brown (a bit more of a fit/financial problem than anything else I believe). I think I actually came off as sounding disinterested with the school because after the initial BS during my interview with the Dean, most of my questions revealed the limitations of Browns IR program (language programs, certain types of research or inherent expertise about esoteric IR subjects I am interested in) and I don’t think that I did a good job of masking my disapointance. Well that should be what most of you are looking for, so if there are any questions let me know.

Oh, BTW I recieved the letter 3 days ago in Mass.

Hi friends..just an FYI.. :) I just spoke to someone on the admissions com. a little while ago, asking what to do about my transcript and that big fat "N"..She said not to worry about it, not even to send transcripts as most ALL decisions have been made, and they will be mailed out on MONDAY. I said that two days ago they said to send transcripts, so she took my name and said that decision has been reached on my file. (SCARY) Clearly she didn't tell me what it was, and I don't think I would ask for it anyway, if I could.
So it appears we are at the home stretch my friends. I'm going away next tues-sat. Soo, looks like I'll come home to a decision. (Eww) I wish you all the best of luck, and congratulations to those of you who have already been admitted! I hope that we, the ones still waiting, get a chance to grace the hilltop and exorcist stairs with our presence this fall as well!

We don't need to send in our transcripts? That can't be right.... the acceptance letter explains that you do need to.

i was speaking to those who have not yet received decisions..the majority of us who have been here since march have not heard anything.

Has anyone received financial aid information...or even a more comprehensive package than the one they sent with the acceptance?

Monday huh? I'm guessing it should reach me on thursday then. Good luck to all of you, i'm expecting nothing but good news for all of us. *knocks on wood

Am I the only one who finds it odd that there has been no reported rejections as of yet?

I received my aid package -- no credit evaluation yet, though.

how long after your decision did u get it?

About a week. (Letters dated May 3 and May 10).
