What I meant by that was that if you choose UCSD choose the school carefully. If it turns out that you like it there, and want to stay, it will be critical because I've heard from a bunch of people who went there that it's next to impossible to switch between the schools. That's all. UCSD is a great campus otherwise.

Wait YTA4 who said the avg. gpa is a 3.6, cuz as i posted the page before, the admissions lady i talked to said in an email the average for accepted applicants in 2006 was 3.7-3.9. (I posted for the individual schools as well)

here is the exact quote from an Admissions Officer
"the median range of gpa's for admitted transfer students would be a 3.7-3.9 at other universities - but keep in mind that we have no minimums and absolutely no guarantees."

What's the risk to putting your deposit at a school down, and then not going? I'm about to pay my Maryland deposit, but I wanna be careful. Do any of you have experience with that sort of thing.

Pretty sure its not binding. It's very much like a waitlist for freshman apps.

well, I just found out from a transfer admissions officer that "upon an initial review of your application, it is unlikely that we will be offering you admission." Oh well.. I wish I knew what they were looking for. Pretty upset, but I'm still waiting for maybe some good financial aid news from GWU. If not then I'll be at UT-Austin for 3 more years, which is still a great school and I'm okay here. :)

Did they happen to say when decisions might be coming out officially?

pinkdillo- How did you find that out??

sorry to hear that pinkdillo but how did u get that information?

How selective is Gtown compared to other top 10-25 schools?

the admissions office at gtown can give you a leaning/probable (90% likelihood) idea of what your admissions decision will be if you absolutely need to know earlier due to financial deadlines before the June 1st announcement (pinkdillo's case I assume). I have a deadline coming up and spoke to an admissions officer who took down my name and told me to contact her at the end of the week, and that she would let me know then. Other than that, she stuck to the June 1st notification.

JTLOVERYORS - Good luck in your quest to get into GT. One would assume you should have no problem since you stated Stanford accepted you. I, too, thought the criteria was a lot higher. In addition, you should check out the negative threads that MD has written. His attacks on HCM, me and others never ends. Don't let him lead you in any direction as he mocks professions at AU, the social life as well as stating that the student population looks like "Chernobyl victims". I would have to say he isn't a good source of info either. He is desperate to get into GT at the expense of putting down everything in his path so be careful.

yeah pinkdillo, how did you find that out? when I called once they wouldn't tell me a darn thing.

Like turtle said, I was given the email of an admissions officer because of my May 9 deadline with GWU. She told me to contact her on May 1 and she would tell me how the committee was leaning... and in my case it wasn't good news :(

i wouldn't try... but sorry to hera that pinkdillo....

Does anyone know the acceptance rate for transfer students?

I just called the Office of Admission and said that I had a deposit due soon (UVA) and that I was hoping they could give me an estimate of my admission likelihood (as someone else did above).

The lady said that they wouldnt do that under any circumstance.

Whats the deal? Should I call back again and see if someone is more generous? Is there a specific employee to call.

Thats surprising for pinkdillo, especially if they were applying to the college. If my memory serves me correctly, they had pretty good stats for Georgetown. I guess it shows all this stuff really comes down to luck sometimes.

Pinkidillo, so they gave u a decision all ready? What were ur stats? I told u guys that its about the whole package...the admissions process at GT is very unique...A 4.0 GPA wont DO the job for u and a 3.4 with more variety will...So...how many people got their decisions for GTOWN?????? Guys, I'm just as stressed as u are. TRUST ME!

From what they said last year, we'll start hearing from today until June 1st or so.
