no prob dotzie...and vernojr...there probably isn't that big a difference, just apply to the one that youre most interested in. especially since transfers probably don't have much flexibility to do internal transfers.

I'm going to be a college freshman in a community college this fall and i'm thinking of applying to georgetown after 1 year of college. What classes should I take if I'm going to major in psychology? Are there major prereqs or lower division classes that I need to fulfill?
I can't find any info on their website.

I'm looking to transfer to School of Foreign service from American University's SIS. I applied to GU straight out of high school and was rejected.

34 ACT
3.7 hsgpa
3.9 college GPA(American U. SIS)

I don't know whether to bother applying to GU again.

^ based on those numbers you should definitely reapply if you still want to go to gtown

abc_123, I was accepted to Gtown as a Psych major. I only took 1 Psych class (2nd semester) and I took Calc but still haven't taken Stats. The only other classes that I took that were even vaguely Psych related would be a Sociology class and Bio for nonmajors. So I'm pretty sure that there isn't a strict set of requirements. If I were you, I would just try to hit all your general requirements and take a couple Psych courses, as well as stats.

Unrelated, but Gtown (at least the College) also requires 2 semesters of Theology and 2 semesters of Philosophy. If you can get 1 religion or philosophy class done your freshman year, it would probably make your life post-transfer a lot easier.

Hi! I'm applying to the SFS, and would be SO appreciate if someone could chance me:

Started community college full-time at age 16 and was graduated early (after junior year), so I didn't apply for any universities as a "freshman"

Now I will be finishing my associate's degree this May (my original high school graduation date). I'll be the age of those applying for freshman status, but I can't apply normally since I was technically out of high school this year.

4.0 college GPA

4.2 HS GPA

ACT: 29

- Have worked at Chick-Fil-A restuarant and at a local school uniform store

International Interest:
- Lived abroad in Lima, Peru for 3 years in middle school

My ultimate goal is law school, because my dream job is to work in international human rights. I want to work with an international aid or development organization, and do my best to make the world a better place. I believe that Georgetown's SFS is the best place to prepare me for a future that will help people in developing nations.

I'm planning to do the optional interview as well, and hopefully I can articulate my passion for this field of work there.

I know I'm CC, and I know my scores are average. What are my honest, realistic chances??

Thanks SO much!

Yeah, it was a 740. Writing is definitely my forte. :)

Hey nspeds can you evaluate my chances?

GPA: 3.62
Junior Transfer (CC student)
Good EC's - Competitive figure skating
Minority Status
SAT's - Bad...but should I retake them/do I need them?

I don't know if you need more info.

I was wondering if it would be worth applying to Georgetown after my first year at college...

I am currently a freshman at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. I do not hate Trinity, however I do feel slightly confined on the small, gated campus. Also, the party scene is a little too much for me. I can't imagine spending all four years of college here.

Here are some of my High School records:
High School GPA: 3.3 (unweighted). My GPA rose significantly my junior and senior year (sort of slacked my freshman and sophomore year)
ACT composite score: 28
ECs: Positions on class student council as well as school-wide student council, treasurer of best buddies, community service club, three sport athlete for all four years, captain of football, track, and lacrosse team.

I also am a middle distance runner on the track team here at Trinity and have run some pretty good times. My times are comparable to those of some members of the Georgetown team. Do you know how much pull the coach would have on me in the admissions process? Can he slot transfer students for his team?

My college experience has been limited to just the past few months. Here is all the information I can provide.
-I am on a path to having about a 3.6-3.7 GPA for the first semester. I hope to maintain or increase this record over the next semester.
-I have started a community service club, which shovels driveways for incapable elderly.
-I am currently teaching bilingual elementary students in Hartford in order to engage with the community, as well as to strengthen my Spanish.
-I have made great relationships with a few of my professors.

Again, I wanted to know if I have a chance after the first semester so I can enroll in the fall semester 2009. Georgetown is my dream school, and I would delay applying for another year if it would increase my chances.

Thank you.

I am wondering if Gtown will accept me with low scores.

I am a freshman at American, but I have been having roommate issues that the university will do nothing about. I love DC, i have a congressional internship and i love the Gtown area immensely. I applied EA last year as a freshman but was deferred and then rejected.

Could I get accepted on sympathy and essays/ECs?

I am currently trying to evaluate my chances of getting into Georgetown as a transfer. I don't think I have a realistic chance of getting in so i don't believe I will ultimately apply but I would appreciated help in making my final decision.

Freshmen at USC Marshall
Guessing for my classes, will most likely be 3 B+'s and 1 A- for this semester.

Any ideas of chances if I applied McDonough? Debating if it's worth it to apply this year or not. If I stay at USC though, I will graduate in 3 years, so if I do another year here, I figure I might as well just graduate here. But thought I'd see what my chances would be.

akalboy, i would guess that you have a decent shot (I'd guess ~50/50). with the exception of your soph year and your SAT2s, your HS record is solid. your grades at marshall aren't bad, but better grades would certainly help your chances.

would someone chance me please for fall 09 transfer (soph)?

I'm a freshman at a NY college. Is it easier to transfer into SFS or the College? I currently have a 3.9 GPA (honor student) and I do a lot of community service. I had average grades in high school. My older sister is a junior in the College. What are my chances?
