Georgetown Transfer Questions

hey guys. i am a freshman at nyu, and i applied as a transfer to msb. my first gpa was pretty high (3.85), but it seems that my second sem gpa will drop to something around 3.2-3.5. its not becasue i am slacking off or anything, but the nature of the courses are much harder this semester for me.i am scared that if i do get in, my admittance will be revoled. should i be worried?

also, i am sure that you guys are sick of "chances" thing, but please help if you can....

HS: salutatorian
SAT: 1850/2400
NYU GPA: 3.85
Rec/Essays: Rec should be pretty good as i also asked my HS headmaster and fav proff. essays should be decent

if you get a 3.2-3.5, your admission wont be revoked. thats not too big a drop, especially if your classes are recognizably harder. strive for closer to the 3.5 and it definitely wont be a problem.

Just got my interviewers information in the mail (I'm a transfer student). Now all I need to do is make an appointment! I wanted to let everyone know I got this so that if you haven't gotten one yet you can start looking in the mailbox. It came a lot sooner than I was expecting...

When did you submit your app?

Yep I got my interviewer information too a few days ago. I have contacted the guy and he hasn't gotten back to me... however I am going to see about getting set up with someone else in Austin because my interviewer is in Dallas (where my house is and I'm never there)

Hey all. I'm in the process of transferring to Georgetown University for my Junior year from William and Mary. (Long story short I'm looking for a larger linguistics program - G-town has a much larger course list including courses in computational linguistics - unlike WM). I guess my real question is - will William and Mary look good as my first college? Do I have a shot?

-I have a 3.3 GPA right now - although my semester average was 3.7 last semester and I made the Dean's List... so I've been showing improvement
-I'm on the crew team (3 hrs practice every day of the week)
-Part of Student Environmental Action Coalition - on a subcomittee, i'm helping to start a co-op in Williamsburg for purchasing organic food and locally grown produce
-High School GPA: 3.81, SAT I's: 1410
-SAT IIs: Spanish w/listening - 780, History - 750
-AP scores: Amer. History - 5, English Lang - 5, Calc AB - 5, Spanish Lang - 4, Amer Gov't - 4, English Lit - 4, Chemistry - 3
-Activities in HS: Crew, Nat. Honor society, spanish honor society, rocketry, track/field
-awards in HS: lettered in crew, scholar athlete award, letter in academics, lettered in band, AP Scholar award (more than 7 APs taken)

Also, not sure if it makes any difference, but I applied to Georgetown during my senior year of high school, but was rejected.

any thoughts?
Azazello is invisible

is there any link (on the CC forums) / or general info regarding the admissions interview? i was wondering whether i should do it or not. do you guys think that it will hurt my chacnes if i do it then mess up? any takes?

G-town hopeful fall 2007 for soph standing....
WHat do you think my chances are?

HS GPA: 3.7 (competitve jesuit high school)
College GPA: 3.81 (max hours in upper level courses) 1st semester, currently a 4.0 for this semester. at a pretty good public university
ACT: 28 (i know its kinda low)
2 great recs
my sister is a soph in SFS (does legacy help if its a sibling?)
and my interview went really well!

Thanks a lot!

oh and I forgot to say im applying to the College,
and in High school i was really involved: FOrensics team (nationally ranked), varsity swimming, president of Dance Company, Amnesty International, etc.

how does Georgetown calculate credits if the person applying for the transfer is from an international University (UK)?
it isnt really specific on their website and i couldnt find an exact email which i should go to to ask them about it :)

When you apply, do they consider you're cumulative GPA, or do they have a set type of classes they want and reconfigure you're GPA accordingly?

received.. interview request from Georgetown U even though i putted in my personal data form that I won't have it..

have you guys received anything else besides the interview slip?

nothing, I have just gotten an interview slip, and thats it, did my interview alreadye. It went really well, if only interviews were worth more.

I think we'll hear back quite late - June 1 or so.

nspeds- do we really hear back that late? i heard from one transfer that he heard back around may 5. any comments?

wow may 5 would be amazing.. can anyone find a thread from last year's georgetown transfers talking about when they heard? i can't find it..

Well whenever I call them, I always ask when we'll be hearing back. They mentioned early June, but I really wonder what happens if I'm not physically here to receive the mail? I think I will be abroad around that time.

a few people received acceptances on 4/29 last year.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=183266

i think it's interesting that several of the people who heard back in the beginning of may weren't contacted previously, nor were they given an interview.

Will decisions come to our school addresses or home addresses? some people on last years forum said it came to their home addresses...so does that mean that our parents will be the first to know and we'll have to wait for a phone call?
