Georgetown Transfer Thread

Ah, that makes a lot of sense, and I hope it is the case. Thank you!

Wait, I just have a question about that - if that is true, then how do we know there is a ~8.5% or 170 student acceptance rate listed in the email if freshman haven’t even responded yet??

170 transfer spots (8.5 transfer rate, so about a 16% acceptance rate) is the standard number for gtown but varies each year- i believe one person on here stated that in recent years they’ve had as little as 170 transfer in or as many as 207. I’m guessing the kids who got emails for transfer acceptance probably got the standard “chosen for 170 spots” blah blah reiteration that they can recycle before knowing exact numbers. It makes a lot of sense that they wouldn’t have all our decisions ready until after they get a grip on the freshman- thanks @transfer84!

So on the website GT says they take your federal EFC but throw in other factors they think are relevant as well… anyone have any insight onto whether that means they’re more generous than one could predict just by looking at EFC (mine was a lot higher than I thought it would be-YIKES)

@trakke
I think…
logically, “this year they will accept 170 transfer applicants” it actually means GT possibly will guarantee at least 170 student to get in even if freshman over enrolls. If more than expected (170) transfer applicants could get in, it probably will depend on tomorrow freshman deposit situation just as @UkraineTrain said. :)

In that case, here’s hoping freshmen really under-enroll this year :p

@alyssa921714 sorry for my ignorance, but what’s a “federal EFC”…it’s probably something glaringly obvious I just don’t realize it :)

@alyssa - I mentioned about the 207 because in last yrs thread they had the same number given to them, and 207 were accepted

@UkraineTrain precisely what I meant! thank you.

that’s what happens when you stay up until 5 am checking CC…

So I’ve heard of one acceptance so far (on here). Anyone else know of acceptances?

Today or in total?

Edit: Yes, I am constantly refreshing this topic =(

I think there has actually been about three or so on here.

@Novastudent
U mean today someone got acceptance?

I think we’ll hear more acceptances sometime this week or next. It is still only May 1st. Or maybe we’re not hearing much acceptances because there aren’t a lot of us here (as opposed to last year’s thread). Could be due to the fact that this isn’t in the transfer forum.

Just one total. A few days ago.

@Novastudent
last friday, i think two~three guys in the thread said they or their friends got acceptances. We probably should expect this friday…

^there have been a few more…several e-mails were sent out Friday.

After the first round, doesn’t GU send out acceptances on a rolling basis? I always assumed that GU does that, though I could be wrong.

Just got accepted to SFS woot!

^^^ nice @elec…prepare for a barrage of questions
