at least you know their looking at your application now

Don K...I have the US NEWS rankings as far back as 1991 (it's one of my querks), and GT has never been above #23. I have always been shocked by that number, but it's due to the financial problems the school has been faced with for a long time.

the fact that they're looking at my application right now is less than comforting..

Nikki--My brother applied to NYU and they were askin for highschool coursework as well, but after he explained his situation (he's been out of highschool for 5 years, i think that would 1999) they said that it would be okay if he didn't send it in, but if he did that it wouldn't have any effect on his application. I know it's a different school but maybe you can tell them that it has been too long and it would be very difficult for you to obtain HS records, or something along that line.

Yea.... I just sent mine in.. they wont put much Emphasis on your 'Past'

that was too many years ago for it to make or break you. too many I say

Thanks guys. :) Masta..this is most comforting as in a fit of rage last night I decided that if I don't get into Georgetown, that I would apply to NYU next Spring. Do you know what school he applied to, if he got in and what his GPA was? Hehe now I'M being annoying..OH well. :)

YEAHHHH!! I just called and spoke with the admissions people again..they said that it was a mistake, since I graduated five years ago, then transferred me to the admissions director (assistant) who sent me the email. :) Wheeeeeew. She said I didn't HAVE to send it, they really just want it so students have complete files. If I DO send it, then it won't hurt me in ANY way as my decision will be made solely on college merit, and that if noteable improvement has been made since high school, than that can only help. THANK GOODNESS!

nspeds..yes, yes you were right. don't rub it in! sorry for freaking out yesterday..you know, i do that.

My brother hasn't heard back yet but he has around a 3.8...and his highschool grades were really terrible, but he's having similar admissions issues with Boston University, where they insist he doesn't need the stuff yet they continue to ask for it...I think they need to be a little more consistent.

Nikki...I wouldn't worry too much (I know that's easier "said" than done), but a lot of times, a school requesting HS transcripts is just a formality. They still won't put any emphaisis on your HS grades. They won't view it as your were an average student in HS. They will view it as look at how much improvement you've made. It's kind of "the glass is half-full mentality". :)

Was that YEAHHH! an allusion to the artist lil' john or was it merely an exclamation of excitement

it was purely excitement

You are all a witness:D

I am glad I could help:)

you're rubbing it in! klhklghjklgjdslkjdfgkljdfgass

Gass.....?

I just thought I would put this on the first page again..I'm getting tired of only seeing UC, UC, UC...Eeeesh. I say we make 14 Georgetown Threads!

LOL Nikki :D Hehehehehehehe, good one!

I long ago established in my mind that I would rather be at Georgetown than UCLA and Davis, and now that I got rejected at both I really need this admission, although me needing it wont make it a reality, maybe if I focus all my mental power into willing it to happen something positive will come of it.

Nikki, I know exactly what you mean.

masta, i'll focus my mental power into willing it to happen for you if you do it for me. it can't hurt

Yes, the UC threads are getting rather tiresome; many of the threads are superfluous in that they can easily be subsumed by others.
