Georgetown transfers--HELP PLEASE!

Congrats! That acceptance came well ahead of the scheduled june 1st date posted on the website (I wish mine came early I'm losing all patience here...I don't even really want to goto school anymore)...I thought georgetown had a pretty high transfer acceptance rate...around like 30%...what's this 9%?

where do you live GT? close to washington?

wow..best of luck to you!

the 9% is in reference to the fact that it is down from 30% last year to 21% this year.

GT2, were you rejected from Georgetown last year? What was your GPA and how many recs did you submit back then?

i live in New York

i dont remember how many recs i submitted last year. just as a little encouragement, i got rejected my senior year and rejected after my freshman year as a transfer (but that was probably bc i took the spring semester off and applied with only one semesters worth of grades).

we increased the length of this thread from 3 pages to 5 in slightly over an hour..hahahaha we're funny. and i think im going to be ill again. <sigh></sigh>

GT, I am just worried because I have a really low HS GPA (below 2.5), but my current GPA is a 3.82, SAT is a 1490, ECs are spectacular, I have decent essays, and two excellent recs (including the Dean's), but only 23 college hours.

Yeah. I am actually right there with Nsped. I have a 4.0 College GPA at 26 Credits, 1580 SATs, 800 SAT II Writing, solid EC's (In charge of SGA senate), essays, ect.. ect.. But..my high school GPA is 2.7.

I'm just so glad you all didn't apply to the school of nursing and health studies..eeesh..I Wouldn't have a prayer!

it seems like your stats are amazing, i wouldnt be worried about them-- i seriously dont think high school gpa matters that much.

however, i got rejected last year as a transfer with a 3.5 and only 16 credit hours. i wouldnt be too nervous though if i were you. where do you go to college?

Well at this point in time, Nikki, none of us know if we have a prayer. We are all a little nervous lol.

I am UMBC in maryland. We have an awesome Poli Sci department, and by that I mean we have Awesome down to earth teachers. No noble prize winners, no special recogniztion for them ect. But my school is the most boring on the Planet. On the weekend, it is a ghost town!

suddenly my 3.6 and 42 hours aren't feeling very happy, at all. :(

I am attending a four-year school in Houston. I applied for the college (philosophy).

I have 51 Credit(transferable) with 3.78 GPA..... would that be competitive? From very good Southern Public University

i gotta get back to writing this stupid paper, but from my experience... i think that as long as you have a decent GPA (3.5+ as they say), your essays and recs are most important. my recommendations were absolutely outstanding- i spent the past year really getting to know my professors beyond just going for extra help. also my essays were really convincing, i had honest and compelling reasons to transfer and i really showed how i tried to the most of my experience at NYU.

good luck guys

Thanks for your time. we all appreciate it

I called the office of admissions this morning:

The acceptance rate for college last year was 165/759. The average accepted GPA was a 3.66.
